Champakkara traditional Boat Race, Kerala, 2012
The boat races in the southern Indian state of India is done using various traditional boats. The most famous ones are the snake boats which includes around 100 rowers. Wikipedia has extensive details on this : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vallam_kali
The boat race happens in various locations and the photos included in are from a boat race called "Champakkara Boat Race". This is a place near Kochi in Kerala.
Its quite a common scene that some of the boats take plunge during the fast paced races. The following photo has such a moment. The participants in these races are very adept swimmers and there are next to no causalities except for certain humiliation.
A differently able man trying to sell toys for the kids. These bubble makers are commonly sold in festivals and it has kept the public amazed. I am still amazed by them and now I can also buy them pretending to be for our kids :)
