My Actifit Report Card: what motivates me?

What is it that gets me up and moving? What does it take for the juices to start flowing and get me out of that dreaded slump of feeling like not doing shit? A few things -

  1. People - when there's people around, I tend to stay more focused and hyper fixate on the task in hand.
  2. Time/deadlines - whenever I'm late, the engine revs up and I knock shit out. Unfortunately, while it makes me productive, it's not always the best work since I'm rushing.
  3. New things - once I'm in the same routine for a while, I catch myself just going through the motions. Whenever there's something new or different going on at work, I have a much easier time finding the energy to complete the new task.
  4. Fixations - ohhh boy this can be a big one. I've gone through many hobbies over the years and never quite realized how much they drove me on a daily basis. Whether it be fantasy sports, gambling, vaping, they all gave me a boost when I'd dive into the research. The biggest fixation I had was my wife's birthday video I mentioned last post.

All of that being said, I'm by myself quite a bit with few deadlines, have been doing the same job for almost 9 years now, and had to come down from my biggest fixation/project ever. Combine all of that, and I really struggled on a daily basis to find the motivation/energy to do my job decent at all. I realized that I simply couldn't motivate myself enough long term without the help of Adderall, so decided to start back up, but with a much greater understanding of my mental health and how my mind reacts.
