River Secrets.
The morning mist is rising, like steam from my cup,
The porch creaks a little beneath me as the sun wakes up.
A river bends and whispers, a tune I swear I know,
With coffee warm, I watch it make its languid flow.
[Chorus]
Oh, the river keeps its secrets, but I listen every day,
It's a lazy, gentle teacher in its own peculiar way.
With every breeze and ripple, it sings a soft refrain,
Of bonfires under stars and a slow canoeing lane.
[Verse 2]
Down by the dock, the cane pole sways,
A fish might bite or might drift away.
The line hums low, the water hums deep,
The river tells a story it’s promised to keep.
[Chorus]
Oh, the river keeps its secrets, but I listen every day,
It's a lazy, gentle teacher in its own peculiar way.
With every breeze and ripple, it sings a soft refrain,
Of bonfires under stars and a slow canoeing lane.
[Bridge]
The trees bow their branches as if tipping their hats,
The world feels smaller near a river like that.
Barefoot on its banks, with dirt soft between toes,
I find all I need wherever it goes.
[Verse 3]
In the evening glow, the fire sparks high,
Dancing like fireflies against velvet sky.
The stars hum along to the river's soft song,
It cradles my dreams to where they belong.
