Spurs Give Away Lead Against the Saints Make Conte Explode.
The thing around Tottenham is that we lose the games we are not expected to lose and win the games we are not expected to win. We are after brushing aside Chelsea easily two weeks ago and then go and lose to Leicester. We beat Man City very well and the week after lose to Wolves. Spurs needed 3 points to go into 3rd place before the international break. I know that other teams like Man United, Newcastle and Brighton have games in hand but it is still a strong position to be in for the final 11 games this season. Tottenham yet again were not playing well but we were well in front and cruising to a victory. Spurs supporters never relax until the 90th minute because we have been let down too often. But this time was nearly the last straw. We gave away a silly goal and then a penalty and all of a sudden it was 3-3. Conte was going mad on the touchline. Before that Kane had easily 3 chances to put Son through but instead he went or glory and his 2 shots did not even hit the target. Spurs had 3 shot son target all game and scored three times from these. It has been a pattern with Kane and Son the whole season. Son got the golden boot and Kane wants it back. It thing it is a real issue here.
After the game Conte crucified the players in what will go down as one of the most famous interviews in football. Quite a few headlines are saying he was slagging off the club but if you listen to the whole thing yourself , you will come to the conclusion that he was more digging out the players as the club is protecting them. Here is the whole thing. Not just quotes out of context.

Now granted he digs out the players but in my opinion Conte's style of play has been abysmal this season. The football is terrible. Contrary to popular belief, Spurs have spent alot since Conte has arrived.
Richarlison £50 million
Bentancur £20 million
Kuluevski Loan €30 million (To Be Paid Next year)
Forster Free
Peresic Free
Bissouma €30 million
Danjuma Loan.
Spence £15 million
Porro £50 million
Romero £50 million (paid in Contes reign)

Hardly small change now is it. So let us just say that the club has supported him financially which above they look like they have. Conte claims that Spence and Danjuma are club signings which means he didn't want them. There is still alot of money spent on players he did want. Some of these players did not get a sniff of first team action due to injury or failure to adopt to Contes model. I look at Richarlisons injury record. Spence was shipped on loan and Bissouma is a slow learner who needed more defensive work. So in fairness the club has signed enough players for Conte. They weren't exactly holding the purse strings tight. Spurs can afford big transfers now given their revenue streams.
Conte went to town on the players but he is unwilling to budge on the first team squad. Sonny has been terrible all season but yet is hesitant to play Richarlison there. We have the England number 9 , Brazil's number 9 and South Koreas number 9 in our squad yet we can't seem to get them all firing on all cylinders. Conte needs to take the blame for some of this instead of blaming everyone but himself. Why doesn't he drop the players that are not doing the job for him and maybe take a chance on a few players that are on the outskirts.

Spurs are said to have accepted the outbursts as part of the deal with Conte but the players will not have taken kindly to such criticism in public. Conte kind of doesn't care. He is gone by the summer anyway and some say he is happy to go before the international break. So do Spurs cut him loose and get into have Ryan Mason take over until the end of the season hoping to get top 4? Do we get in the manager that we all want back so he can start building? Will the Director of Football Paradici get on with Pochettino? This is an important one. Other names that have been mentioned is Tommy Tuchel, Luis Enrique and Brightons De Zerbi.
If you look back at Conte's clubs. He won all around him at Juventus. Fell out with Agnelli. Went to Chelsea. Fell out with Abramovich even though he got money to spend and oceans of it. Went to Inter, won the league, fell out with owners around lack of investment and now he has fallen out with Spurs. It is a normal process in the life of Antonio Conte who is very demanding. So it is safe to assume Spurs will not offer Conte a new deal and Conte will not sign a new deal which puts all sides in purgatory at the moment. If the climate is unstable then it leads to the team becoming unsettled and this contract with Conte which has now entered it's final stages looks like it will expire which is bad forward planning in every aspect. It is a slow bleed and it is not looking pretty. More outbursts will come. Is it best to rip the band aid off now and just cut our losses or hold onto Conte and try and get 4th place if we can.
For me personally I would like to get back with the ex and see Maurico Pochettino come back. Mainly for his style of football. Yes we won nothing in his tenure but we reached 3 finals and we were not far off. Somebody in the football world said to me last week. There are not many clubs that actually win things. Man City and Liverpool the last few years but it is slim pickings among the other clubs. We reached a Champions League Final under Poch but were poor in the League and it was fairly toxic at the end. The first thing he would do is get rid of the players who were there in his first tenure. Also would Kane and Son press now that they are much older than before. There is some serious surgery needed. Watching the game on Saturday it was the likes of Kane and Son who were playing for themselves which makes me think if we got rid of Kane would it be actually alot less of a disaster than we think. Bring Scarlett back and sign Maddison from Leicester then all of a sudden we would have a new look Spurs that may be up to press high again. Bring in Richarlison as the clubs number 9 and hey pressto, we have a Poch team.
I love Kane but he needs to make up his mind this year whether he wants to leave. He is after Shearers record and wants to stay in England. He has young kids as well so this is a factor. Spurs will want between 70 million and 90 million for him seeing there is 1 year left on his contract. Kane might run it down but it is unlikely. United are the favourites to sign him but you never know with City. Haaland is scoring but is he the right fit for City. Rumour has it that Pepe has him watching Kane videos for movement. This is crazy but if you asked Pepe to swap Haaland for Kane I would say he would. On saying that I think City will walk the Champions League with Haaland and this is why he was purchased. You can see both man beast and professior are still trying to work things out though so you never know what will happen in the summer.
Levy said in his end of year notes after Mourinho that we needed to stay loyal to the clubs DNA which was free flowing attacking football. He went off and signed Nunez Espirotos Snatos as the manager then. 6 weeks later he signed Conte. Hardly sticking with the clubs DNA. He has tried the "Win now " manager and it doesn't work. It is time to go back to Poch and the sooner the better for all parties involved. Maybe then we will not go out to a poor Milan team in a whimper. We might even put up a fight and win.
It was some rant from Conte!! He made some very good points, but may soon be out of a job as a result I imagine. Spurs inconsistency this term will end up costing them I reckon and United and Newcastle will finish in the top four.
I think Spurs are putting their ducks in a row and he will be gone by the end of the week.he was right about the players. Kane might turn into the next Ronaldo if he doesn't press anymore.

I don’t think he’ll be there by the time we come back from the international break. His position is pretty much untenable now. I wonder if Paratici will follow in the summer too. That could play an important part in who the manager is going to be
Yeah apparently he doesn't fancy apoch and would prefer Luis Enrique or Fonseca.
I seem to remember that we were linked with Fonseca before.
In some ways giving it to Mason now, gives us time to learn whether Paratici's ban will be upheld and then potentially extended. If it is then we need a new Director of Football too and that could change the scope of the hunt for a new manager.
