Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Game Day 2 of the Euros. We have seen Germany thrash the Scottish last night 5 goals to one. So far we have 20 entrants to the Competition and all of them had picked Germany to win with the exception of @benbow2017 who made his selections after the first game. The good news for the late comers to the competition is that the favourite (the home team) only get 1 point for a victory. A draw will give you two points and a win for the underdogs will give you a whooping 3 points in the group stages. So for all of you who would still like to enter , please give me your match predictions for the below games. The first of these games kick off at 2pm GMT so get in quick in case you miss these games as well. There is no closing date for this contest but Hive users are amassing points already so the faster you enter then the more chance you have of winning the prizes.

**Results and Selections Day 1 **

Everybody went for Germany last night so everybody gets 1 point for the home win (Germany were the bookies favourites). So for those of you who are thinking of entering then do so quick as these guys are only 1 point ahead at the moment but there are 3 games today.

Upcoming Fixtures Today

Saturday 2pm: Switzerland vs Hungary

This is an interesting one because this is the only game where the home team Switzerland who are the favourites at 23/20 are not being selected by the Hive user. Hungary are not too far away on odds 27/10 but they are still the underdogs. Only 4 of you have selected Switzerland to beat Hungary. 5 have selected the draw but the rest of you have selected Hungary to win. And if they do win then this is a cool 3 points in the bag for you. This is a decisive game in this competition and we are only in Day 2. The two football on Hive stalwarts have selected opposing teams. @amirtheawesome1 went for the Swiss and @talesfrmthecrypt is going for Hungary. I'm selecting the draw for this one. I always keep an eye on @thoth442 as well as this guy has won our Premiership fantasy league two years in a row which is no mean feat. He is gone for the Swiss.

Saturday 5pm: Spain vs Croatia

Spain are against Last of the Summer Wine with the Old Guys Croatia still a force to be reckoned with. Many think Spain are just too strong but the number 9 position is still a problem and Moratta has only scored 2 goals in January with the national team. Modric is still around and still playing good whenever he featured for Madrid. As the Guardian podcast pointed out, if Croatia win the Euro's their celebration party will be rolling down a hill in a barrel with Norah Batty after them with a rolling pin. (The English guys will get the reference,) This team is soooo old.

Saturday 8pm: Italy vs Albania

Albania are the worst team in the competition so an Italy win here I predict. Anything other than this is a disaster for the Italians.

Scoring For the Group Stages

The scoring for the group stages is as follows. The away team who are the underdogs in every match are awarded 3 points for a win as opposed to the home team (favourites to win) who get 1 point. A draw gets you 2 points.

Scoring In The Knockout Stages

In recent competitions after the group stages it was a foregone conclusion on who won the whole competition as the group stages took up the most games and predictions. So I have altered this so that the knockout stages could be a game changer for those that do well in the group stages may not necessarily have a good knockout stage. The knockout stages uses a different scoring system to make people who did not do so well in the group stages catch up. There is also a prize for most points in the knockout stages
