Another Exciting Display Against Burnley Gives Spurs 10 points from 4 matches
I was out with my football team a few weeks ago for our summer barbeque and a 3 of the Arsenal supporters started to get a bit leery after a couple of drinks. They bet me €20 that Arsenal would finish ahead of Spurs this season. I took their bet quietly confident in what is going on at Spurs. So I was €60 in as they say when one of them said "I will bet you €50 that Spurs will be relegated" . I quickly took him up on his offer. Worst case scenario is that I lose €10 if Arsenal finish ahead of Spurs. Paul Merson said without Kane that Spurs would finish in the bottom half of the table. People were quick to jump on this bandwagon but they underestimated Ange Postecoglou and everything he has done in the past. In fact Ange has always been underrated and he has always proven his doubters wrong. Nobody knew who he was when he came to Celtic and now they are lamenting the fact he is gone. They knew he was a special guy. Spurs fans were the same. Was it not for a couple of Celtic friends , I wouldn't have known so much about him. Ange plays attack attack attack and we have seen this in the first 3 games. So I could not contain my excitement for Saturday which was away to Burnley.
Spurs had a cup game mid week and Ange had made 9 changes. To be fair these types of competitions are the only way he can field a weakened team but he went all in against Fulham and we lost on penalties. If he fielded his premiership 1st team then we would have been though but he wanted to give players a chance to prove themselves. Something he probably deeply regrets now. Anyway with that minor blip over with Spurs headed to Turfmore. Ange made two changes from the last Premiership game against Bournemouth. He dropped Richarlison and put Sonny up front rather than on the wing. A great decision in my opinion as Richarlison has not been playing great. He gave Manor Solomon his first Premiership start to play on the wing in Sonny's position. The rest of the team stayed as is.
The game started with Burnley coming out of the stalls very quickly. In fact Spurs found it hard to get going because of their hard press. They actually scored first but soon after Tottenham's midfielders started to take the game by the scruff of the neck and it wasn't long before a lovely dink from Son over keeper Trafford and we were all square. From then on it was a walkover after Romero scored a second with Tottenham playing some of the best football I have seen out of them in years. The second half was a joy to watch and the last goal by Son was something special as every player in the team was involved. Angeball was here.

What a change Ange has made in the last few months to every aspect of the team. He removed the leadership group of Dier , Hojbjerg, Kane, Skipp and Lloris and appointed Son , Romero and Maddison as captain and vice captain. A master stroke considering all three scored at the weekend. Maddison has been a revelation and some say our best bit of transfer business in years. But then there is Udogee and VDV, two other players than have been unbeliveable. The keeper Vicario is also not putting a foot wrong and Bissouma looks like a new signing as Conte refused to play him last year. Dier isn't even in the squad which is a sign of the intentions of the new boss. Ange is notorious for his "slow start " but if 10 points from 12 is slow then sign me up. Some say we have not played any quality team as of yet but with Liverpool and Arsenal to come after Sheffield United we will soon find out. Liverpool and particularly Arsenal do not frighten us considering how effectively we dispatched United only for Arsenal to struggle. It is exciting times at Tottenham at the moment and I am gutted this international break is happening this week.

Transfers
So as regards transfers out Lloris refused to leave for his beloved Nice due to lack of a clear plan for him which is confusing. Nice tore up Casper Schmeicels contract so it was a green light for Lloris but for some reason he refused to leave. Many are saying why leave and go somewhere else on half the wages but Hugo is denying this but it is all a bit confusing. With the Saudi Arabian League's transfer window remaining open it might shed some light if a bid comes in for Lloris from a club there. Ndombele and Sanchez are marked out for Galataseroy but I will believe it when I see it when Ndombele leaves but it looks like another loan deal. To sell just 2 players off our books so far from the 6 or 7 that needs getting rid of is weak really. Only Winks and Kane have been sold and we didn't want to sell one of those players. Sanchez will be a good to get off the books but there is work needed in January as Ange made it clear that he will not pick some players in his final Premiership squad so it is up to them to organise a move or it is Netflix and Chill for 3 or 4 months.

With Davison leaving and Dier out of favour our new signing Ashley Philips will be the 3rd choice Centre Half until we can bring one in in January so fingers crossed that Romero and VDV remain fully fit. I am saying that ahead of international duty when Romero regularly throws himself into tackles, It is concerning but most of the other positions are covered except this one.
So it is al going swimmingly at Tottenham. There are games where we will lose 4 - nil but the style of play is exciting and we have our Tottenham back. So I will enjoy myself for next couple of weeks and look forward to Sheffield United away where I expect another 3 points.
Spurs are having a great start to the season, but we know they have always bottled their chances each time they come close to achieving something. Let's hope this season will be different from the last.
