A wild and wonderful wintry new years day walk in the woods this morning. Lots of shovelling and then an afternoon of board games with the kids. Clue, Monopoly, Trouble, Scrabble and a few others. Tonight it’s movies and popcorn. I guess the diet will start tomorrow. Ha ha…. Or maybe next week.

A beautiful winter picture you have there and a great way to spend the first day of the year! There's an old wives tale (I think) that says that you'll spend a lot of time in the year doing whatever you did the first day of the year. If this is true, then you're in for a fun year!

That’s a great old wives tale. I like it. I hope to go hiking every day this year. Even if it’s a few hours.
Unfortunately, my work messes with hiking daily plus I'm so mentally drained, it's a challenge to get motivated to go. On the other hand, time is also a factor; there's not much left at the end of my workday.
