The first stone Hindu Temple in Europe: BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London | MONOMAD CHALLENGE

Today I will take you to visit the first Hindu tempo in Europe, also known as Neasden, which is located in UK. They don't allow to take pictures inside the temple, I only managed to take one very slyly, so you will see the facade and its surroundings.

I also thought it was nice to add the streets leading to the Temple, as they contrast a lot with the rest of the architecture you see in London, especially in the center of the city and especially in the tourist spots.

Hoy los llevaré a visitar el primer tempo hindú de Europa, también conocido como Neasden, que se encuentra en Reino Unido. No permiten tomar fotos en el interior del templo, solo logré sacar una muy disimuladamente, por ello verán la fachada y sus alrededores.

También me pareció bonito agregar las calles que conducen al Templo, ya que contrastan mucho con el resto de la arquitectura que se ve en Londres, sobre todo en el centro de la ciudad y en especial en los puntos turísticos.

Getting to this temple was quite complicated, and in fact I don't know where I got the courage to do it. At that time I had no internet on my phone (i.e. no roaming), and I only had some screenshots of the bus and train lines I had to take.

I got lost, but by asking around, I managed to get to the temple and then back to central London, where I was staying.

Llegar a este templo resultó bastante complicado, y de hecho no se de dónde saqué valor para hacerlo. En ese momento no tenía internet en el teléfono (es decir, no tenía roaming), y solo contaba con algunas capturas de pantalla de las líneas de bus y tren que debía tomar.

Me perdí, pero preguntando, logré llegar al templo y luego volver al centro de Londres, donde me hospedaba.

This place is indeed sacred for people coming from India. As some of you may know, India was a colony of the United Kingdom for a long time, and became independent in 1947, very recently, even after the end of the Second World War.

Therefore, there are many people from this country living in London, and it is for this reason that this temple is not a tourist attraction, but a real point of worship for them.

Thus, inside you can not take pictures and you must enter barefoot. Also, you must leave your purse or backpack before entering the entire grounds that constitute the center, even if you only want to be in the garden area.

This is a very safe thing to do, so you should have no fear of it getting lost or anything. Likewise at the time, I asked if I could take my documents and cell phone with me, and they had no problem.

Este lugar es en verdad sagrado para las personas procedentes de la India. Como algunos sabrán, la India fue colonia de Reino Unido durante mucho tiempo, y se independizó en 1947, muy recientemente, incluso después de finalizada la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

Por ello, hay muchas personas de este país viviendo en Londres, y es por este motivo que este templo no es una atracción turística, sino que constituye un verdadero punto de culto para ellos.

De este modo, dentro de él no se pueden tomar fotos y hay que entrar descalzo. Además, debes dejar tu cartera o mochila antes de entrar a todo el terreno que constituye el centro, incluso si solo quieres estar en la zona de los jardines.

Esto es algo muy seguro de hacer, así que no deberías tener temor de que se pierda o algo. Igualmente en ese momento, yo pedí que me dejaran llevar conmigo mis documentos y el celular, y no tuvieron problema.

The interior of the temple is mostly white marble, with golden sculptures (I do not know what the material was), and presents the figures of the different gods: Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, Ganesha, Lakshmi and others.

At one side there is a shop where they sell many objects related to Hinduism and India at really cheap prices.

El interior del templo es de mármol blanco, la mayor parte, con esculturas doradas (no sé cuál era el material), y presenta las figuras de los diferentes dioses: Shiva, Vishnu, Brahma, Ganesha, Lakshmi y otros.

A un costado hay un local en donde venden muchísimos objetos del hinduismo y con la India a precios realmente económicos.

The temple is beautiful and can even be seen from the bus stop around the corner. While waiting, I took the opportunity to take some pictures of what was beginning to be the sunset on that afternoon when the rain was once again caressing London.

A puddle had formed right next to the bus stop, reflecting the part of the temple that was in sight. Very beautiful indeed.

I hope to save the money to see the temples of India for real, because since I started on the path of Yoga, I discovered that a part of me has a very beautiful connection with that land.

El templo es precioso y se puede ver desde la parada de bus que está a la vuelta. Mientras esperaba, aproveché para sacar unas fotos de lo que empezaba a ser el atardecer en aquella tarde en que la lluvia acariciaba nuevamente a Londres.

Se había formado un charco justo al lado de la parada, que reflejaba la parte del templo que quedaba a la vista. Realmente muy bello.

Espero ahorrar para conocer los templos de la India, pues desde que comencé en el camino de Yoga, descubrí que una parte mía, guarda una conexión muy bella con esa tierra.
