A walk around London in Black and White: let's visit the Tower of London in today's MONOMAD Challenge

London, year 2019, only two months away from the first case of COVID-19 in the world, and me out there, experiencing what would be for me, my second trip alone, on a path I can hardly turn my back on and that is being a traveler.

With this brief introduction I greet you and present my publication for the #monomad challenge of the day.

Londres, año 2019, a tan sólo dos meses del primer caso de COVID-19 en el mundo, y yo por ahí, experimentando lo que sería para mí, mi segundo viaje sola, en un sendero al que difícilmente le podré dar la espalda y es el de ser una viajera.

Con esta breve introducción los saludo y presento mi publicación para el #monomad challenge del día.

London Bridge was one of the first points I went to visit, in what constituted a long walk from the Soho area to the London Eye. In the middle of exploring, I passed by St. Paul's Cathedral and used the ticket I had purchased to enter the tower.

At the time, my English was pretty bad, so I didn't even try to understand too much of what they were explaining inside this place, and I, fascinated by the structures, decided to just explore what I had around me.

I entered the bridge with the guide and then the Tower of London space. The tour included entering it, and of course I did, following my group, but absorbed in my own world. I remember the narrow staircases and those pieces of furniture that for the time were as luxurious as it could be.

After the explanation in the interiors, we went to the exterior sector of the building, and there I was fascinated: the whole landscape reminded me of the Game of Thrones series, and for the first time in my life I saw a raven in real life.

I was surprised by how friendly it was and also by its size, as I thought they were much smaller.

El Puente de Londres fue uno de los primeros puntos que fui a visitar, en lo que constituyó una larga caminata desde la zona de Soho hasta el London Eye. En el medio de la exploración, pasé por la catedral de San Pablo y utilicé el ticket que había comprado para ingresar a la torre.

En ese entonces, mi inglés era bastante malo, por lo que ni siquiera intenté comprender demasiado lo que explicaban dentro de este lugar, y yo, fascinada por las estructuras, decidí simplemente explorar lo que tenía a mi alrededor.

Ingresé al puente con el guía y luego al espacio de la Torre de Londres. El tour incluia ingresar a ella, y claro que lo hice, siguiendo a mi grupo, pero absorta en mi propio mundo. Recuero unas estrechas escaleras y aquellos muebles que para la época eran lo más lujoso que pudiera existir.

Después de la explicación en los interiores, fuimos al sector del exterior de la edificación, y allí terminé de fascinarme: todo el paisaje me hacía acordar a la serie de Game of Thrones, y por primera vez en mi vida veía a un cuervo en la vida real.

Me sorprendí por lo amistoso que era y también por su tamaño, pues pensaba que eran mucho más pequeños.

After that walk closer to the group, I continued my way through the wonderful city, which was waiting for me to finish introducing itself. Lodres is wonderful, it tempts you to want more of it, in an interesting game of conquest and distance that enjoys the visitor.

The bridge had caught me, so I headed to it as fast as I could, and once in front of the famous "London Bridge", I was fascinated by its immensity and its particular colors: turquoise and white that subtly decorated the cement of the construction itself. It had screws that were almost as big as a hand, and I was so captivated by its shape that I stayed there for several minutes photographing it.

Then, I crossed it, and played a little with a transparent floor that allows you to see how cars pass underneath you.

Después de aquel paseo más ajustado al grupo, continué mi camino por la maravillosa ciudad, que me esperaba para terminar de presentarse. Lodres es marvilosa, te tienta a querer más de ella, en un interesante juego de conquista y distancia que disfruta con el visitante.

El puente me había atrapado, así que me dirigí a el tan rápido como pude, y una vez frente al famoso “Puente de Londres”, quedé fascinada por su inmensidad y sus particulares colores: turquesa y blanco que decoraban sutilmente al cemento propio de la construcción. Tenía unos tornillos que eran casi tan grandes como una mano, y me cautivó tanto con su forma, que allí me tuvo, durante varios minutos fotografiándolo.

Luego, lo crucé, y jugué un poco con un piso transparente que tiene y que te permite ver cómo pasan los autos por debajo tuyo.

The images you are seeing correspond to that day and also to one where I took a boat ride on the Thames River that allowed me to have a perfect view of the Tower Bridge.

This ride was literally the icing on the cake, as I had a macro view, shall we say, of this construction, while the boat placed me at some distance from the bridge and my view was perpendicular to the structure.

Sometimes I find it hard to believe how these human constructions can generate so much impact to the retina, mostly positive impact. You will know that I am a lover of natural spaces, but my passages through immense cities like London, make it clear to me that human creations also have the power to seduce me.

Las imágenes que están viendo corresponden a ese día y también a uno en donde di un paseo en bote por el río Támesis que me permitió tener una vista perfecta del Puente de la Torre.

Este paseo fue literalmente la frutilla del postre, ya que yo tenía una vista macro, digamos, de esta construcción, mientras que el bote me colocó a cierta distancia del puente y mi vista quedó perpendicular a la estructura.

A veces me cuesta creer cómo estas construcciones humanas pueden generar tanto impacto a la retina, impacto la mayoría de las veces positivos. Sabrán que soy una amante de los espacios naturales, pero mis pasos por ciudades inmensas como Londres, me dejan en claro que las creaciones humanas tienen también el poder de seducirme.
