[PL / ENG] Spacer po Murckach / A walk around Murcki My Actifit Report Card: August 12 2023

Murcki to jedna z dzielnic Katowic, z którą dotychczas styczność miałam jedynie podczas odwiedzin w szpitalu, gdzie lata temu leżała moja przyjaciółka z dzieciństwa, oraz z przejazdu obok. A jest to dzielnica niesłychana - enklawa, otoczona z każdej strony lasem. Namawiałam męża jakiś czas temu na wycieczkę rowerową w tamte okolice, ale nie udało się jak dotąd. W sobotę za to pojawiła się okazja, aby z Bomblem w wózku zrobić mały spacer po okolicy. Chodźcie, popatrzcie.

Murcki is one of the districts of Katowice, which I had contact with only when visiting the hospital where my childhood friend was hospital years ago, and when passing by. And this is an incredible district - an enclave surrounded by forest on all sides. I persuaded my husband some time ago to go on a bicycle trip to that area, but so far it has not been successful. On Saturday, however, there was an opportunity to take a small walk around the neighborhood with Bombel in the stroller. Come on, take a look.

Ale najpierw spójrzcie na mapę, żeby nie było, że naginam rzeczywistość. Widzicie tą dzielnicę? Z każdej strony las i to nie byle jaki! Nie było więc zdziwienia, że kiedy wyszłam z lokum, które odwiedzaliśmy, skierowałam swe kroki ku najbliższej ścianie leśnej. Musiałam przejść może z 200 metrów od wyjścia z bloku i już byłam w lesie.

But first, look at the map so it doesn't sound like I'm bending reality. Do you see this district? Forest on every side and not just any forest! So it was no surprise that when I left the place we were visiting, I headed towards the nearest forest wall. I had to walk maybe 200 meters from the exit of the block and I was already in the forest.

Trochę mnie ten las zaskoczył. Z jednej strony ścieżki ładny, zielony. A z drugiej? Uschłe sosny! Co tu się wydarzyło?

This forest surprised me a bit. On one side of the path nice, green. And on the other? Withered pines! What happened here?

Po przyjściu do domu zasięgnęłam wiedzy u niezastąpionej cioci Wikipedii i otóż dowiedziałam się, że w Lesie Murckowskim jest użytek ekologiczny "Płone Bagno", dawniej Diabelskie lub Czarcie bagno:
"Użytek ekologiczny utworzony w 2002 roku posiada powierzchnię 4,22 ha; chroni część boru bagiennego wraz z fragmentem torfowiska wysokiego, które jest unikalnym w skali regionu zbiorowiskiem o charakterze naturalnym. Jest to najlepiej zachowany w mieście płat boru bagiennego, w którym występują: bagno zwyczajne, borówka bagienna, żurawina błotna. W rejonie użytku bytuje wiele gatunków zwierząt, należy do nich np. gniazdująca na jego terenie słonka."
I uwaga:
"W drzewostanie panuje sosna zwyczajna, obecna jest również brzoza brodawkowata. Drzewa te rosną w znacznym rozproszeniu, są zazwyczaj niskie i cienkie. Często spotyka się także drzewa obumarłe."
Bingo?
Wprawdzie nie szłam przez teren tego użytku ekologicznego, ale kto wie, może jest to jakieś wyjaśnienie, co się stało z tymi sosnami, które mijałam.

After coming home, I consulted the irreplaceable aunt Wikipedia and I found out that in the Murckowski Forest there is an ecological site "Płone Bagno", formerly Diabelskie or Czarcie Bagno:
"The ecological site created in 2002 has an area of 4.22 ha; it protects a part of the swamp forest together with a fragment of a raised bog, which is a unique natural community in the region. It is the best-preserved patch of swamp forest in the city, in which there are: common, swamp blueberry, marsh cranberry. Many species of animals live in the area of use, including, for example, woodcock nesting in its area."
And note:
"The tree stand is dominated by Scots pine and silver birch. These trees are widely dispersed, usually low and thin. Dead trees are also common."
Bingo?
Admittedly, I didn't walk through the area of this ecological use, but who knows, maybe it's an explanation of what happened to those pines I passed.

A to drzewo poniżej cieszy się szacunkiem leśnych współtowarzyszy. Wszystkie inne drzewa stały grzecznie w oddaleniu, pozwalając mu tak dostojnie się rozrosnąć.

And this tree below is respected by its forest companions. All the other trees stood politely apart, allowing it to grow so majestically.

Punktem orientacyjnym na mojej trasie była leśna kapliczka. Przed kapliczką skręcamy w prawo. Jest kapliczka, skręcamy.

The landmark on my route was a forest shrine. Turn right before the chapel. There is a chapel, we turn right.

Przyjęty azymut wyprowadził mnie "na miasto", dokładnie zgodnie z planem. Mijamy zakład utylizacji odpadów i recyklingu Edelmet, z takim posągiem na posesji. Z tyłu są jeszcze słonie i parę innych. Ciekawe, czy przerobione z odpadów?

The adopted azimuth led me "to the city", exactly as planned. We pass the Edelmet waste disposal and recycling plant, with such a statue on the property. There are elephants and a few others in the back. I wonder if it's made from waste?

Idąc sobie niespiesznie, zastanawiałam się, jak to się żyje na tych Murckach. Murcki liczyły pod koniec 2020 roku 4 840 mieszkańców (1,78% ludności miasta). (https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murcki). To taka nieduża osada. Chyba życie może tu być przyjemne. O, i mają knajpę, gdzie leją Litovel.

Walking slowly, I wondered what it was like to live in Murcki. Murcki had 4,840 inhabitants at the end of 2020 (1.78% of the city's population). (https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murcki). It's such a small settlement. I guess life can be nice here. Oh, and they have a pub where they pour Litovel.

Zespół szkół w Murckach wygląda tak. Całkiem sympatycznie.

The school complex in Murcki looks like this. Quite nice.

A jak wyglądają ulice? W tym kwartale, który ja przeszłam, tak jak poniżej. Raczej niska zabudowa, stare domy. Trochę wygląda tu tak, jakby czas się zatrzymał.
"Zabudowa mieszkaniowo-usługowa Murcek pochodzi głównie z przełomu XIX i XX wieku, a także z okresu powojennego."

And what do the streets look like? In the quarter that I went through, as below. Rather low buildings, old houses. It looks a bit like time has stopped here.
"Murcki's residential and commercial buildings come mainly from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as from the post-war period."

Czas się zatrzymał, ale wcale nie chcę powiedzieć, że jest tu jakieś zaniedbanie. Popatrzcie na tą firankę. To są na pewno domy wielorodzinne, są tam tabliczki informujące o wspólnotach mieszkaniowych. I właśnie to wrażenie tej wspólnoty daje się tam odczuć.

Time has stopped, but I do not want to say that there is some neglect here. Look at this curtain. These are certainly multi-family houses, there are signs informing about housing associations. And it is precisely this impression of this community that is felt there.

Przy jednej z ulic ciągną się takie duże bliźniaki. Sądzę, że są to domy wielolokalowe, bo są bardzo duże, ale dbałość o detale wygląda tak, jakby każdy segment miał jednego właściciela.
Dom niby brzydki, w życiu bym takiego nie wymyśliła, a jednak, poprzez spójną zabudowę i to, jakie są zadbane - stają się naprawdę urocze!

On one of the streets there are such large twins. I believe that these are multi-unit houses, because they are very large, but the attention to detail looks as if each segment had one owner.
The house is supposedly ugly, I would never invent such a house, and yet, thanks to the coherent buildings and how well-maintained they are - they become really charming!

Znalazł się też nieco bardziej modernistyczny szeregowiec.
