Dzisiaj Bombel zaliczył pierwszą wizytę u stomatologa, i to od razu grubego kalibru, bo było podcinane wędzidełko. Moje dzielne dziecko jakoś to zniosło, a potem korzystając z tego, że jesteśmy w Rudzie, wybraliśmy się na mały spacer po okolicy (kilometry w Pokonaj Polskę same się nie nastukają).

Pierwsze kroki z terenu przychodni skierowały nas do nieprzyzwoicie brzydkich bloków. Te po lewej stronie to standardowe budownictwo mieszkaniowe w tym mieście, ale te po prawej - obite tandetnym sidingiem, o zbyt małej liczbie okien - aż krzyczały, aby zrobić im zdjęcie ostrzegające potomnych architektów: nie idźcie tą drogą.

The first steps from the clinic led us to indecently ugly blocks. The ones on the left are standard housing in this city, but the ones on the right - covered with shoddy siding, with too few windows - screamed for a photo to warn posterity architects: don't go this road.

Kiedy wychynęliśmy zza brzydkich bloczków, było już tylko lepiej. Tu, na ulicy Gierałtowskiego, powitały nas malutkie, stare domki. I pomimo, że niektóre wyglądały naprawdę stareńko - jak ten drewniany poniżej - to ogólnie wszystkie na tej ulicy były bardzo zadbane, jeśli nie pod kątem wykonanych w perspektywie ostatnich lat prac remontowych, to na pewno pod kątem zadbanych rabatek.

When we emerged from behind the ugly blocks, it only got better. Here, on Gieraltowski Street we were welcomed by tiny, old houses. And although some looked really old - like the wooden one below - in general, all on this street were very neat, if not in terms of renovation works carried out in recent years, then certainly in terms of well-kept flower beds.

Dotarliśmy do ulicy Piastowskiej, gdzie oczekiwały nas duże, stare kamienice. Widać tu spore zaniedbanie. To nie jest świetnie odrestaurowany Nikisz. Tu nikt nie wyłożył grubych milionów w celu przyciągnięcia turystów. Ma to swój urok?

We reached Piastowska Street, where large, old tenement houses awaited us. You can see a lot of neglect here. This is not a perfectly restored Nikisz. Here, no one has contributed heavy millions to attract tourists. Does it have its charm?

Po drugiej stronie ulicy znajduje się jeden z zabytków Rudy, kościół św. Józefa, datowany na 1902-1904 rok.

On the other side of the street there is one of the monuments of Ruda - st. Joseph's church, dating back to 1902-1904.

Gdzie się nie obrócisz, na wielu elewacjach możesz zobaczyć odwieczne ślady wojny pomiędzy zwolennikami chorzowskiej oraz zabrzańskiej drużyny piłkarskiej. Szkoda tych starych elewacji, naprawdę. Tu poniżej elewacja może nie była wartościowa, ale też wrogowie niebieskiej drużyny wyjątkowo się przyłożyli do swojej roboty.

Wherever you turn, you can see age-old traces of the war between the supporters of the football team from Chorzów and Zabrze on many facades. It's a pity for those old facades, really. Here below, the elevation may not have been of value, but the enemies of the blue team really did their best.

Kiedy odwrócimy się w stronę minionego kościoła, taki widok mamy przed sobą.

When we turn to the past church, this is the view we have in front of us.

Obok krzyża prowadzi mała, wąska uliczka Ballestremów z takimi uroczymi niewielkimi starymi zabudowaniami.

Next to the cross there is a small, narrow Ballestrems Street with such lovely little old buildings.

Zatoczywszy małe koło, po przejściu ulicą Orzegowską, napotkałam na kolejny zabytek.

Having made a small circle, after walking along Orzegowska Street, I encountered another monument.

Jest tam nawet tabliczka z informacją, niestety aby się dostać trzeba zjechać z chodnika w dół i przedreptać po mokrej trawie. Niezbyt miałam ochotę pchać się tam z wózkiem, na szczęście mam zoom w telefonie. Dzięki temu już wiemy, że jest to Kaplica Piusa X.
Budynek kaplicy pod wezwaniem w Józefa, obecnie Piusa X, ufundowany przez hrabiego Korola Wolfganga Ballestrema w 1870 roku. Obiekt wybudowano według projektu budowniczego Wachtela z Gliwic w miejscu kopliczki, która stała tu od 1859 roku. Architektura budynku operuje elementami stylu neogotyckiego takimi jak ostrołuczne zakończenia okien, dekoracyjne rozety nad drzwiami wejściowym czy otaczające bryłę skarpy.

There is even a sign with information, unfortunately, to get to it, you have to go down the sidewalk and walk on the wet grass. I didn't really want to go there with the pram, luckily I have a zoom on my phone. Thanks to this, we already know that it is the Chapel of Pius X.
The building of the chapel dedicated to Józef, now Pius X, founded by Count Korol Wolfgang Ballestrem in 1870. The facility was built according to the design of the builder Wachtel from Gliwice in the place of the mound that stood here since 1859. The architecture of the building features elements of the neo-Gothic style, such as pointed window endings, decorative rosettes over the entrance door or the surrounding slope.

Idąc dalej, za drzewem widzimy niemal równie zabytkowy sklep spożywczo-wędliniarski. Trochę już przeżył, a widać, że wciąż ma swoją klientelę. Fakt, Biedronki w tej okolicy nie było.

Going further, behind the tree, we see an almost equally historic grocery and sausage shop. He's been through a bit already, and you can see that he still has a clientele. It is true that bigger stores were not in this area.

Kończymy trasę ulicą Matejki, gdzie stare kamienice ozdobione są błękitnymi obramowaniami. Nie do końca spójne połączenie (wolę czerwień Nikisza czy też zieleń Fryny), ale na pewno oryginalne.

We end the route along Matejka Street, where old tenement houses are decorated with blue borders. Not entirely perfect combination (I prefer Nikisz's red or Fryna's green), but it's definitely original.

W wariancie nieco ciemniejszym zresztą od razu lepiej.

In the slightly darker version, it's much better.

Mijamy jeszcze park im. Augustyna Kozioła, a w zasadzie skwer, ale zadbany, z placem zabaw i ciekawą knajpą - Rudy Kozioł. Niestety, o tej porze nieczynna, ale wygląda obiecująco.

We also pass the park, a square in fact, but well-kept, with a playground and an interesting pub - Rudy Kozioł. Unfortunately, it is closed at this time, but it looks promising.

No i wracamy do auta ulicą Sprusa. Znowu małe kamieniczki, tym razem z oknami wykończonymi na czerwono.

And we go back to the car along Sprus Street. Small tenement houses again, this time with windows finished in red.

Można było z pewnością przejść i zobaczyć znacznie więcej, ale już zaczynało kropić, a więc uciekliśmy.

You could certainly walk over and see a lot more, but it was already starting to rain, so we ran away.
