GHANA VS SOUTH KOREA- This Was No Surprise At All.

Today, Ghana played against South Korea. I am sure a lot of people apart from Ghanaians were surprised by the outcome.

GHANA'S READINESS
A few weeks before the world cup qualification was the African Cup of Nations 2022 (AFCON 22). Ghana performed abysmally at the tournament and had to leave at the group stages. They came back home and had to get readied for the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. One of the changes that had to be made in the team was to replace the Coach. Milovan Rajevac was replaced with Otto Addo, the assistant coach for Borussia Dortmund. With so little time left to prepare, Otto Addo got himself and his team together and led them to qualify after beating Nigeria by an away goal. It was then time for serious preparations.
Scouts were sent to pay keen attention to European Football and fish out the Ghanaians playing in top Leagues. The team had to be reorganized. New players had to join the squad. The technical team understood that, if the current players as at then were maintained, Ghana would be nothing to write home about in the World Cup.
New players such as Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey, Salisu Mohammed, Salis Abdul-Somed, Antoine Semenyo and many others were given a call up to join the Black Stars.
Serious preparations then began. Friendly matches had to be played. The Black Stars played against Brazil in their first game and lost by three goals to nill. Next was Nicaragua. Ghana beat them by a goal to nill. Then finally, a week to the main World Cup Event, Ghana won against Switzerland by two goals to nill. These results really showed how well the Black Stars were ready for the main tournament.
Now, we all saw what Ghana did during their game against Portugal.

MATCH OVERVIEW
Frankly speaking, when I saw the lineup before the game, I was a bit disappointed. I wondered why Otto Addo decided to start Jordan Ayew. To me, during our previous matches, he had not lived up to expectation. But I think I was shamed. At the end of the match, I would have voted Jordan Ayew as the Player Of The Match.
The formation 3-4-1-2 on paper and 4-3-3 on the field actually did the magic for Ghana.
Today's game seemed to be somehow opposite with what we saw against Portugal. In the beginning, Ghana opened up and went on attacking. Then in the second half, they kind of closed up the game and decided to defend. The exact opposite of this happened during the Portugal game.
I would say because Ghana closed up the game in the second half, it gave the Koreans much room to launch some hot attacks. The difference came in when Ghana was able to utilize their chances but the Koreans could not.

Things could have been a little bit rocky for Ghana in the second half. The Koreans had so many chances at goal. They could have easily taken the lead. But thanks to the goalkeeper Zigi who made very wonderful saves.
Now Portugal leads Group H followed by Ghana then to South Korea and Uruguay.

In Ghana's game against Uruguay on Friday. I think it will be one of the toughest games for Ghana. Since Uruguay lost against Portugal today, they will need a win in order to qualify out of the group. Ghana on the other hand needs either a win or a draw to qualify. Most people think it will be a revenge game for Ghana. Remember in 2010, Ghana played against Uruguay in the Quarterfinals. They almost qualified to the next stage but Uruguay made it just a dream.
To me personally, I think Ghana should just play a normal game and not have revenge at the back of theirs heads. They should give in their best as they always do.

Let's see what happens next.
