The King Formerly Known As Prince: May 6 2023
Today was the big day, the coronation of Prince Charles, and Mia and I went around the market square in the morning to find out what was happening in town; we found the preparations already underway with everything supposed to be ready by 11am; The grey sky was threatening with showers.
We returned to the square just after 11am to find the proceedings in London taking place at Westminster Abbey.
When the number of umbrellas increased I finally decided to call it a day..
Mia wasn't happy anyway, she hates getting wet and I didn't have her coat with me.
A quick latte at mine and Mia's favourite place was on order..
I'm sure it's only me, but I must admit that I was slightly underwhelmed by it all 🤔
Maybe it's because I've never witnessed a coronation in my life, well, only on TV and ".. the sun always shines on TV..".. It certainly wasn't today!
It seemed Mia was thinking the same..

Most of us have not witnesses a coronation. I spoke to an older lady at parkrun who remembers crowding around a small black and white TV for the last one. We did watch it out of curiosity. It is a strange ritual that goes on for too long. I did feel for the people who waited out in the rain. There was a thing on in Arlesey, but we didn't go. I am no monarchist, but these symbols have a power over people even if the king has no real political power. People like tradition as something to feel special about.

Well, it was something to do on a grim day..
Standing around a tiny little black and white TV in a shop window.. Yes, I can imagine, but I surely would have given that a miss.
The silly ritual might be shaken about at least a little with him there..
I understand there were already a few different things taking place yesterday.
The garden, the gospel singers.. but, yes, still too much pomp paid by the us, the taxpayer!
