Cycling in Shoham - 28k activity - My Actifit Report Card: May 20 2023

Hello and welcome to yesterday's #actifit activity report

Yesterday was a Saturday - resting day in Israel. In the early morning the inter-city roads are relatively empty which is a good opportunity to go cycling. I cycle on those kind of roads only on Saturdays, the rest of the week it is too dangerous for a cyclist because of a heavy traffic.

The inter-city roads open up new towns and cities for me to explore. One of the towns I was looking forward to discover was the town of "Shoham".

The town located in the Central District near the "Ben Shemen Forest" - biggest forest in the District. The main feature of the town is the focus on environment. Each neighborhood has municipal garden or a green space.

This was my first visit to the town. I
cycled through the whole town from South to North. There are a lot of places left unexplored and I will definitely come back in the future.

Bridges

There were several road bridges on my way. I like stopping, taking a photo and enjoying the view from high up. It is another perk of using a bicycle for travel.

My focus was to explore the green spaces in the town.

In the middle of the town I found a beautiful cycling path that runs in a small valley surrounded by greenery.

Public art in Shoham

I like to find and photograph local public art because it tells a story of the city and it's citizens.

In one of the parks I found a public library tree and a fairy reading a very interesting book.

My favorite photo of the day

I stopped to take a photo of the three bronze badgers in the town of Yehud. A street cat posed perfectly to complete the scene. I was very lucky to get this shot.

Mystery of the day

On my way to Shoham I spotted a road that I looked interesting to check out. The road ended with a gravel parking lot and a concrete super long structure. There are no markings on the map to help explain the structure. It goes far into the distance. I have no idea what is it or it's purpose.
