68km cycling trip to Raanana - 38k activity - My Actifit Report Card: March 26 2023

Hello and welcome to yesterday's #actifit activity report¹

Yesterday with a great weather and some spare time I went for an extended bicycle ride. My goal was to explore the city of Raanan. It is located in the southern Sharon Plain of the Central District of Israel. I managed to explore the centre of the city and finished the 68km ride in four and a half hours.

As always with my northern bound rides the first interesting stop was at the Yarkon Park. The park is full of fresh greenery and it is a pleasure to cycle through. I took a some photos of white clovers flowering in the park.

To get to Raanana I cycled through the city of Herzliya. For safety I prefer small roads on the outskirts of the city, they are very quite and offer nice views to enjoy.

I stopped in a small garden hidden between buildings in Herzliya and found a Millstone decorating it. I was wondering why millstone was placed in the garden. Herzliya was founded in 1924 as a semi-cooperative farming community and my guess the millstone is displayed to celebrate the farming history of the city.

Once I reached Rannana I cycled through parks and gardens located between apartment buildings. The area that I was exploring has a lot of greenery incorporated into an urban landscape. I noticed that the parks are dominated by bottle trees, usually parks in Israel feature groves of fig trees.

While cycling at Weizman street I noticed an interesting public art display called "The dialog with an eucalyptus trees" by Dalia Mair. It is nice to see artist's use of natural materials in her art.

Colorful and dynamic street art by Naotart featuring basketball and soccer players located near Sportek - a sports centre. I loved the diversity of characters and the energy of the scene.

My last stop before returning home was a playground. There are a lot of playgrounds that I visited and photographed. Some of my photos of playground equipment I contributed to LMAC gallery https://www.lmac.gallery/lil-gallery/playground%20equipment but I have never seen the whole playground made from wood. It was an amazing find and a total surprise, the amount of work, an ecologicaly friendly wood and the detail made me feel proud of the city that made such an investment.
