My first Mainz visit (My Actifit Report Card: October 4 2024)

In the German state where I live, the autumn school holiday has begun this week, and it lasts for about two and a half weeks. In Germany, holidays often mean travel. So, for the first part of our autumn trip, we visited friends in Mainz who have a vineyard and produces own wine.

It was my first time visiting Mainz, and they gave us a tour of the city, where I learned that it’s the birthplace of Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of the printing press.

They also took us to the vineyard and wine production facilities, where we enjoyed some wine tasting. I even took a break from being vegetarian to indulge in the local specialty sausage. I’ll be writing more about that in a separate post for the Food & Culture.

It was a great start to the autumn holiday—lots of activity and delicious food. Now it’s time to head back home, and tomorrow I’ll be setting up a stall at the local market for the first time in a while.

With the cooler autumn and winter months ahead, I’ll make sure to keep moving and stay active 😊

ドイツで私が住んでいる州は、今週から2週間半ほど学校の秋休みです。ドイツでは休暇といえば旅行。ということで秋の旅行の第一弾は、ワインを作っている友人一家を訪ねてマインツに遊びに行ってきました。

マインツを訪れるのは初めてで、街中を案内してもらって活版印刷機を発明したヨハネス・グーテンベルグが生まれた街だと知りました。

ワインの葡萄畑やワインの加工所に連れて行ってもらったり、ワインを飲ませてもらったり、ベジタリアンはお休みして地元の名産のソーセージに舌鼓をうったり…という話は別途Food & Cultureに書きたいと思います。

よく動いてよく食べていい秋休みのスタートになりました。これから家に戻って明日は久しぶりに地元のマーケットに出店します。運動不足になりがちな秋冬、よく体を動かすことにしましょう😊
