I arrived in Fukuoka Prefecture on 3 June, checked into the campsite on 4 June, enjoyed the Hiraodai trek on 5 June and stayed another night at the campsite.
On the morning of 6 June, I took down my tents and checked out of the campsite at around 10:30am.

The owner came before 10:00 and picked up our rubbish, including combustible rubbish, cans and plastic bottles. The truth is that this campsite has a 'take all your rubbish back' policy.
But this time, they were aware of my "camping as part of a journey" situation and decided to be flexible. I really appreciate it.

On my way back from the campsite to the bullet train town, I stopped at an udon shop.
This udon shop is very famous and very popular in the Kyushu area, and they have a chain of shops all over Kyushu.

When I dropped by, the 'Anago Tempura Udon' had been added to the menu for a limited time.
In fact, this udon shop is very famous for its delicious tempura.
In particular, they are famous for their large burdock root tempura, which looks as if it is stuck in the udon bowl.
As you can see on the banner in the photo, the burdocks are so long that they stick out of the bowl, and you can even order just these.

This restaurant is open from 7:00 am to 1:00 am.
I can understand why you would want to eat udon for breakfast or dinner.

I arrived at 11:00 and when I entered the restaurant, it was empty as there was still time before lunchtime.
On the table, there was a limited time only menu with a large selection of "Anago Tempura" + "Warm Udon" or "Anago Tempura" + "Cold Udon" sets to choose from.

Next to this was the 'Anago Happiness Set'.
Looking at the details, a really happy menu was prepared: a set of 'Anago tempura rice bowl (mini size)', 'Burdock root tempura udon (mini size)' and 'Botan mochi (mini size)'!
I love to have a little bit of everything, so I chose this 'Anago Happiness Set' without hesitation.

You can also choose not to have the peony rice cake with this set.
Normally, I would cancel the Botan Mochi because I don't like sweets that much.
However, the peony rice cakes at this udon shop have a very high reputation for being "really delicious", and even I felt that "I'm on a trip and I would regret not having this", so I ordered the peony rice cake as part of the set.

A short while after ordering, the Anago Shiawase Set arrived in front of me.
It was already a set meal that made me happy just by looking at it (LOL).

The conger eel tempura, cut into two pieces, was so big that it completely overflowed the bowl and you couldn't even see the rice underneath. I even felt that it was bigger than the picture on the menu.

The udon noodles with burdock tempura on top, a signature dish of this chain, also contained a large burdock tempura and was topped with deliciously cooked pork.

The conger eel tempura was longer than the length of your chopsticks!
Amazing!
The udon was topped with a fish cake with the chain's trademark on it.

The udon, conger eel tempura and burdock tempura were all very tasty and I ate them in no time.
I was really hungry in the morning, partly because I had woken up early to fold up the tent and take it down, and had only eaten a simple breakfast around 5:30am.
It was a really happy lunch.

うどんには、こちらのチェーン店のトレードマークが入ったかまぼこが乗せられていました。

うどんも穴子天ぷらもごぼう天ぷらもすごく美味しくて、私はあっと言う間に食べてしまいました。
朝、テントを畳んで撤収するため、私は早起きして5:30頃に簡単な朝食しか食べていなかったということもあり、本当にお腹が空いていました。
本当に幸せなランチでした。

Finally, I had the peony cake for dessert.
The peony cake at this restaurant was not too sweet and easy to eat, but I felt there was more to it than that.

There are many other words to describe taste, such as 'salty', 'bitter', 'spicy', 'sweet' and 'sour', but this peony cake seemed to me to have the taste of 'simplicity'.
It is a gentle sweetness that I have never really felt before, but I can't quite put it into words.

I tried to imagine that maybe the type of sugar used was slightly different, or that this rusticity was the taste of the azuki beans used in the bean paste itself, but I couldn't tell.
I tried to imagine what it might be, but I couldn't figure it out.

最後に私はデザートの牡丹餅をいただきました。
このお店の牡丹餅は甘すぎず食べやすかったのですが、それだけでは無いものを私は感じました。

味覚を表す言葉には「しょっぱさ」「苦さ」「辛さ」「甘さ」「酸っぱさ」など他にも色々な味を表す言葉がありますが、この牡丹餅には「素朴さ」という味があるように私には感じました。
今まであまり感じたことのない、優しい甘さなのですが、私には何ともうまく言葉にできない味でした。

もしかしたら使っているお砂糖の種類が少し違うとか、この素朴さは餡に使われている小豆そのものの味だとか、想像してみましたが私にはわかりませんでした。
「素朴な甘さの優しい美味しさ」と言うのが私のボキャブラリーで表せる最大限、でした。

I was really impressed that such a delicious and satisfying lunch set meal could be had for only 970 yen, a truly authentic 'happiness set', really.

On the one hand, I wish they would expand the chain and open more shops in my area, but on the other hand, I think it might be nice to have the pleasure of travelling all the way to Kyushu to eat udon (LOL).
What do you think? I think that a trip in search of delicious, local specialities is surely a good thing.

こんなに美味しくて大満足のランチ定食がたった970円で食べられるなんて、本当に正真正銘の「しあわせセット」だと私は感動しました、本当に。

もっと私の住んでいるエリアにもチェーン展開して店舗ができてくれないかなぁと思う反面、遠く離れたこの九州まで「わざわざうどんを食べに来る」という旅行の楽しみがあってもいいかもしれない、と思ってしまう私です(lol)
どうでしょうか。美味しい、その土地の名物料理を求めて行く旅もきっといいものだと私は思います。

After finishing my happy lunch set and feeling really full, I took my time to look out over a cup of tea.
Next to this udon shop is a convenience store and a fast food restaurant.
As it is on a national road, I imagined that there must be a lot of cars passing by, even late at night, and that customers would come here for something tasty and easy to eat.

I really like that kind of atmosphere.
I believe that when you feel hungry, when you are offered something warm and ready-to-eat, when you feel delicious, all human beings are equal and everyone can be happy.
In our busy lives, eating fast food "just to make up for hunger" is tasteless and disrespectful to the food, but even fast food can really enrich people's hearts depending on the timing and circumstances of eating it.
This place felt like a place with that kind of warmth and power.

After this, we went to visit a campsite located within a three-hour round trip from this place.

幸せなランチセットを食べ終わり、本当に満腹になった私は、お茶を飲みながらゆっくり外を眺めました。
このうどん屋さんの隣はコンビニエンスストアとファーストフード店があります。
国道沿いなので、夜の遅い時間でもきっとたくさんの車が通り、美味しいものや簡単に食べられるものを求めて、お客さんがくるんだろうな、と想像しました。

私はそう言う雰囲気がすごく好きです。
お腹が空いたなぁと言う時に、温かいもの、すぐに食べられるものを提供してもらって、あぁ美味しいと感じる時、人間はみんな平等で、みんな幸せになれるんじゃないかなと私は信じています。
普段忙しく生活している中でファーストフードを「ただ空腹に対して間に合わせるため」に食べるのは味気ないし、食べ物に対しても失礼な気がしますが、ファーストフードであっても、食べるタイミングや状況によっては人の心を本当に豊かにしてくれますよね。
この場所は、そういう暖かさやパワーをもった場所に感じました。

この後、この場所から3時間以内で往復できる場所にあるキャンプ場を見学に行きました。

We are already counting down the seconds until the rainy season begins in Honshu. Rainy season in Japan will start again this year.
I am so glad that I was able to go on this refreshing vacation before that happens.

6月3日に福岡県に到着して6月4日にキャンプ場にチェックイン、6月5日に平尾台トレッキングを楽しんでキャンプ場にもう1泊しました。
6月6日の朝、テントを撤収して10:30頃にキャンプ場をチェックアウトしました。

オーナーは10:00前に来てくださって、可燃ごみ、缶、ペットボトル等のゴミを引き取ってくださいました。本当はこちらのキャンプ場は「ゴミはすべて持ち帰り」が原則なんです。
でも今回の私の「旅の途中としてのキャンプ」という事情を知り、臨機応変に対応してくださることになりました。本当にありがたいです。

さて、キャンプ場から新幹線のある街まで帰る途中で、私はうどん屋さんに立ち寄りました。
こちらのうどん屋さんは、九州エリアではとっても有名で、すごく人気があり、九州のあちこちにチェーン店を展開しておられます。

私が立ち寄った時は「穴子天ぷらのうどん」が期間限定でメニューに追加されていました。
実はこちらのうどん屋さんは天ぷらが美味しいことでとても有名です。
特に、うどんのどんぶりに刺さっているかのような大きなごぼうの天ぷらが有名です。
写真の幟旗にもありますが、器からはみ出すくらいの長いごぼうで、これだけを注文することもできるんだそうです。

こちらのお店は朝7:00から深夜の1:00まで開いています。
朝ごはんや夜食にうどんを食べたくなる気持ちは私にもよくわかります。

私が到着したのは11:00で、お店に入るとまだランチタイムまで時間があるので空いていました。
テーブルには期間限定メニューがどーんと用意されていて「穴子の天ぷら」＋「温かいうどん」または「穴子の天ぷら」＋「冷たいうどん」のセットが選べるようになっていました。

その横を見ると「穴子しあわせセット」というものがありました。
詳しく見ると「穴子の天丼（ミニサイズ）」と「ごぼう天ぷらうどん（ミニサイズ）」と「牡丹餅（ミニサイズ）」のセットという本当にしあわせなメニューが準備されていました！！！
私は色々な種類のものを少しずつ食べる、というのが大好きなので、もう迷わずこの「穴子しあわせセット」を選びました。

このセットは牡丹餅をつけないという選択も可能です。
私は甘いものをそれほど好んで食べませんから、通常であれば牡丹餅はキャンセルします。
しかし、こちらのうどん屋さんの牡丹餅は「本当に美味しい」という評判がとても高くて、いくら私でも「せっかく旅行に来ているんだし、これは食べなかったら後悔するなぁ」と感じて牡丹餅もセットで注文しました。

注文してしばらくすると、私の前に「穴子しあわせセット」が到着しました。
もう、みているだけで私を幸せにする定食でした(lol)

2つにカットされた穴子の天ぷらは完全に器からはみ出す大きさで、下にあるご飯が見えないくらいでした。メニューに掲載されていた写真よりも大きいんじゃないかと感じるくらいです。

こちらのチェーン店の看板メニューである「ごぼうの天ぷら乗せうどん」も、大きなごぼう天ぷらが入っていて、美味しく煮込んだ豚肉がトッピングされていました。

もう本州梅雨入りまで秒読みになりましたね。
今年も日本のレイニーシーズンが始まります。
そうなる前にこのリフレッシュ休暇に行くことができて本当によかったです。
