My Actifit Report Card: May 10 2024| Walking along the levee 5_May Flowers Part 2/堤防を歩く5_5月の花々その2/[ENG/JPN]
The article in Japanese is in the second half.★
The walk continues past the river level lookout.
The embankment walk continued as we walked over the bank and down to the same ground level as the riverbank.
We climbed up and down stairs and hills many times along the way.
Each time, the view changed.
It is only a 3-km walk, but as you can see in this photo, when you are surrounded by a bank of lush wildflowers, you feel as if you are in a completely different place.
The Nayokusa Fuji is still blooming profusely on both sides.
This flower could be seen all the way from the starting point to the finish line.
They are really bright and beautiful purple.
The nayokusa-fuji is a legume, so when you come back in a few months, I am sure you will see many bean pods in full bloom.
The bean pods of the nayokusa-fuji resemble snap peas.
However, the pods are quite hard (if you want to try them), so it is better to stop eating the pods and take out the bean inside to eat it properly.
However, they are also said to be slightly poisonous, so it is dangerous to eat a lot of them.
After walking for a while, I found a wild rose.
It had beautiful white flowers.
I could not get close to this wild rose bush because it was surrounded by many deep wildflowers.
When I was in elementary school, there were many grassy areas on the way to school and several large wild rose bushes.
I remembered that many bees and butterflies visited the wild roses.
Wild roses bear many small, hard, red berries.
When I grew up, I saw a picture of a rose hip that looked just like the wild rose I saw on my way to school when I was a child, and I thought to myself, "That's just like the wild rose! I was impressed (as a matter of course).
There are so many fruits that are classified in the rose family.
When I look at this wild rosebush flower, it is the strawberry flower that I admire so much for its similarity.
When I learned as a child that strawberries are a member of the rose family, I was shocked and surprised to learn that they are members of the same family, even though the shape of the plant and the way it produces fruit are so different! I was surprised to learn that they are members of the same family.
I have yet to see the actual flowers, but I heard that almonds are also a member of the rose family, and their flowers are similar to those of wild roses.
The flowering period is relatively close, and the almond flower is said to be similar to the cherry blossom.
The reason is that they are both members of the rose family, the cherry family.
I would like to see them once, because I hear that you can tell the difference when you carefully identify them.
We kept walking and came out on the embankment again.
The view is completely different.
In the distance, you can see a water level monitoring facility that is higher than the one we saw earlier.
It monitors the water level of the river from that location.
Looking back, the "Akatombo Bridge" can be seen in the distance.
The water level observation facility mentioned earlier was located on the side of that bridge.
You can see how it looked like in the article below.
Our destination, Green Park, is approaching.
The river is very wide in this area, and therefore, the longer the river continues to be low, the more grass and trees grow on the riverbed.
Standing on the bank and looking out, the riverbed grasslands look like a wilderness.
Increasingly, riverbeds are being mowed and maintained and used as some kind of facility.
For example, it can be used as a sports field or a heliport.
In fact, the area a little north of this meadow has been developed as a baseball and soccer field.
In some places, untouched nature is left untouched in this way.
I think it is simply because the government has not been able to keep up with the maintenance, but I feel that sometimes it is good to have places like this that have been left untouched.
■diary with a few words
Yesterday and today are cool and comfortable.
In recent years, it has been like "Golden Week is over and it's already summer" and the hot season would arrive in a flash.
This year the weather is very nice and I feel comfortable both in my room and outside.

Google Translate & DeepL, thank you as always.
I am glad that you read it :-)
