Los torneos 5+3 arena son un poco traicioneros. Hay mucho tiempo por cada partida, pero si los rivales usan el modo berseck, se escaparán en la tabla rápidamente. The 5+3 arena tournaments are a bit treacherous. There is a lot of time for each game, but if the opponents use the berseck mode, they will escape in the table quickly. I started the tournament playing at a calm pace and with quite encouraging results. I am happy with that first part of the tournament. But at one point, after a few games, I realized that, if I kept using my 5+3 minutes per game, I was going to end up in a bad position anyway, even if I wasn't doing so bad in the games. So I decided to start using berseck mode myself, and the result was catastrophic: I lost almost every game. Moreover, out of 11 games played, 9 were against players with a ranking much higher than mine. Anyway, it was not an easy tournament, but I took away many lessons, both in relation to the strategy I should use in this kind of tournaments, as well as in the games themselves.

En mi segunda partida, conseguí una buena victoria ante un rival con un ranking superior al mío. Fue una partida muy desprolija, con muchos errores de los dos. En el torneo anterior, perdí la oportunidad de ganar una pieza avanzando un peón y atacando dos piezas al mismo tiempo. En esta partida, volví a dejar pasar una oportunidad similar.

In my second game, I got a good victory against an opponent with a higher ranking than mine. It was a very sloppy game, with many mistakes from both of us. In the previous tournament, I missed the opportunity to win a piece by advancing a pawn and attacking two pieces at the same time. In this game, I missed a similar opportunity again.

Jugué Qb6??, cuando d4 simplemente ganaba el caballo. Unas pocas movidas después ya estaba en una situación bastante mala. Pero Jean1301 cometió un error grave y esta vez sí supe aprovecharlo.

A partir de acá mi torneo fue un verdadero desastre. Perdí 5 partidas seguidas. Como consuelo, fueron todas contra jugadores de más de 2000 puntos. En esta partida me fui encerrando de a poco, hasta que mi posición era tan apretada, que no sabía qué movidas podía hacer para ganar un poco de aire. En esta posición ya estaba perdido, había dejado avanzar mucho a los peones negros.

Jugué entonces Nc5??, sin evaluar todas las consecuencias. El hecho es que el caballo en d7 era importante y no debería haberlo sacado. La partida siguió con exf7+ Rxf7, Bxc5 Bxc5 y Ne5, perdiendo calidad. Con solo 0:17 en en reloj, abandoné.

También en modo berseck, venía haciendo una partida bastante digna hasta la movida 28. La posición estaba pareja, tenía una pieza de más contra dos peones. El módulo me da una pequeña ventaja, pero esos dos peones negros en las columnas a y b son preocupantes. Cometí dos errores seguidos y quedé en una posición perdida.
