Vince Young 2006 Topps Rookie NFL Football Card
Vince Young will always be one of my personal favorite players even if his career did not go exactly as planned. There's a universe where Vince Young is still the quarterback of the Titans as we speak. He's 41 now. It's not impossible. He had all the physical tools, things just did not consistently click for him. Still, he did end his career with a winning record of 31-19 record as an NFL QB.
Vince was a legend as a Texas Longhorn in college, he was on the cover of Madden 08, and honestly did have some fun moments as a pro. All in all he'll always be remembered as a really iconic athlete.
Owning his rookie card is pretty freaking sweet.
Vince Young had a fun rookie season in Tennessee in 2006 filled with great moments. One of these moments happened 18 years ago on this very day, when he led the Titans to an incredible comeback victory against Eli Manning and the Giants. 18 years. I remember this like it was yesterday.
The Titans were down 21-0 entering the FOURTH freaking quarter. Less than ten minutes briefly, even. I was discouraged a bit obviously, but I knew Vince was the king of comebacks so there was always a chance with him.
Boy did he come through. Core memory created for sure. Vince threw THREE touchdowns in the last ten minutes to complete the comeback in Nashville and did what seemed impossible. Unbelievable game I'm glad I got to watch live!
The top movie in the US when Vince Young was breaking Giants' fans hearts eighteen years ago was 'Happy Feet', an animated movie featuring talking penguins. I need to show my son this one.
