Well, finally some not bad news. Hopefully this is good news. After the Titans fired Ran Carthon the other day, the Titans were left GM-less. Again. Over the past week or so the Titans interviewed a ton of candidates for the position. Every day I saw reports of another new interview. From the outside looking in, it seems the franchise was at least trying.

Well, as of yesterday the Titans seem to have found their man, and mildly surprisingly, the Titans managed to hire Mike Borgonzi, formerly a member of the Kansas City Chiefs front office. Borgonzi was one of the more sought after GM candidates around the league. Borgonzi was on the Chiefs since 2009, well before Patrick Mahomes showed up. So no, the Titans aren't simply chasing the Chiefs' success. Borgonzi was around throughout the very competitive Alex Smith era, and of course into the Patrick Mahomes era. Borgonzi ascended several front office positions throughout his nearly two decades with the Chiefs and it's clear he was a critical part of assembling the current Chiefs' dynasty. The last position Borgonzi held with the Chiefs was assistant GM, and now he gets to be the full GM in Tennessee.

I could speculate for days but, this does seem like a great first step for the Titans turning this thing around. I'll believe it when I see it but, I am pretty happy about this. Happier than I've been all season and well, the season is over...

Borgonzi checks all the boxes on paper. He was first hand a part of turning the Chiefs into a juggernaut from the ground up. I mean, all the Titans can do is hire what looks like the best people. Borgonzi looks like the right person.

What's in the past is in the past. Weird hires and fires, letting go of stars, struggling to find a QB. Right now, I do believe the Titans have slightly more hope than most people want to say. When the Titans win only three games, and were embarrassed week in and week out, I get the criticism.

But admittedly, I am starting to get a little sick of all the jokes and all the hate. I really hope Borgonzi can pick up the pieces and add stronger pieces.

The Titans have hope. At QB, it's looking rough. They still have Levis and while it's clear he's not the guy, who knows I guess. He will be in his second year in the same offense at least. I don't want the guy to be the starter, don't get me wrong, but when I take my feelings out of it, maybe there's a .00001 percent chance for him still, in like a hail Mary scenario. But don't misunderstand me, the Titans MUST get their hands on another QB, somehow.

Coach Brian Callahan has also been a part of turning a bad franchise around with the Bengals as they got Joe Burrow. Maybe he will respond well to these challenges and he himself is only in his second year coaching now. Many jitters and uncertainties will hopefully be pushed out of his mind in year two.

The Titans did sign some valuable free agents with Ran Carthon. He made a few decent draft picks.

Now, the Titans have formidable cap space and of course the number one pick.

There's a lot of what ifs and maybes, and all of these assets and players could absolutely go to waste but, I think there's a glimmer of hope here.

I'm ready to be patient though, don't get me wrong. But I hope Borgonzi constructs a master plan somehow. Let's see what he can cook up. I get the NFL and the world in general are always going to be quick to judge but, the day the Titans turn this around, and silence the haters, it will be glorious.
