Phillies Opening Day is here!!
Since October for me as a sports fan, it has been really really rough. My Titans stink, my Sixers stink but today the Phillies begin their season and well, they shouldn't stink in 2025.
Baseball was absolutely my first love. My first real interest, and first real hobby I guess you could say. It was the first sport I played as a kid and I was hooked. Countless memories on the diamond. Traveling all over just having a great time. Words really can't express how much I loved it. I still do of course. Outsiders love to say how boring it is and this and that well, I could name MANY sports that are much much more boring.
Baseball I believe, at the highest levels at least, is the most difficult sport and most competitive sport. The hand-eye coordination needed, the explosiveness needed, the strategy required, and some other aspects of the game combine in such a way that make baseball uniquely awesome. No timers, no ideal size requirements for players.
I love many sports but, I really feel like the beauty of this game is so overlooked. Honestly, some sports are too fast and chaotic that it gets a bit old I'd say. The slow methodical nature of baseball, the suspense of baseball, the fact that in one inning anything can change is just wonderful to me. Baseball has totally chill, one of a kind vibes to me man.
The game really does bring peace to my mind. I don't think I ever fully recovered from stepping away from the game years ago as a youngster. Corny, but true. Life as a kid was well, let's just say relentless for a lack of a better word. As a man now, I am just glad I'm alive to see another opening day. I need to get my son to at least a minor league game this year at some point. If I could get us to Philadelphia, I'd be over the moon.
It's a really beautiful, ideal day in the Philadelphia area. The Phils will be in D.C. for this opening game but, obviously that is not very far from Philly anyway.
March to October. Baseball is here man. I feel so lucky to have had this sport in my life. Life gets so stressful that it's mind boggling at times but, for a few hours today and all the way until autumn, there's always gonna be some ball to watch.
The Phillies look pretty much the same as they have the past few seasons. I love that this core is still together, who knows when this era may end so I am enjoying watching them perform. I really hope they can get over the hump this season and win it all. A notable newcomer this season is Max Kepler who was in Minnesota for about a decade. He is still only 32 so he's still got some tread on those tires that's for sure.
Wheeler on the mound today for the Phils. Should be great!!!
Rocking the best Christmas gift ever from my son!! This shirt is outstanding and I know I am going to be wearing this a TON this season. Probably many many seasons, hopefully forever.
THE FIGHTINS!!

I do want to mention, out of respect and for the record as this season begins, my second team is always and forever firmly going to be the Athletics. I hope nothing but the best for them as well!!! It's probably a bit unlikely but, I may throw a post out here or there about them. Who knows. I don't have second favorite teams but the A's are by far my favorite 'second team' of all the sports I follow. I'll always have respect and high hopes for the green and yellow as well!
Still, I don't want to get it TOO twisted here. It's always gonna be first and foremost.....
