Phillies lose a competitive one yesterday | Squad in New York to face the Mets tonight + A.D. Hammer RTTS Part 45
Well yesterday the Phillies offense showed up early but not often enough in the end. They gave the Marlins too much time to make a comeback and well, they did so in the eighth inning. Orion Kerkering who is normally very reliable, wasn't so reliable yesterday. Saturday Jordan Romano nearly had an all-time meltdown, and now yesterday Kerkering really struggled and arguably cost the game. Of course it's not all his fault at all I don't want to blame him fully and the Phillies did manage to tie it up but the Marlins were just the better team yesterday.
Javier Sanoja of the Marlins really put his team on his back on Saturday, the man had a career day on Easter! 3 for 4 with 5 massive RBIs and he even showed off his slick defensive skills. Stinks he played this well against the Phils but, good for him.
The Phillies weren't too graceful against the Marlins but they did manage to win the series so that's good.
Tonight they are in the Big Apple to face the Mets who are continuing to play well after a strong 2024. They are currently two games better than the Phils so this is a massive series for the NL East. I know it's early in the year but, May is around the corner. So soon that 'it's still early' sentiment will be less valid.
If there was ever a time for Aaron Nola to snap out of this slump, today would be that day.
