Phillies Drop Game 1 in St. Louis last night | Team looks to get back on track today + A.D. Hammer RTTS Part 42
Well yesterday's game was a snoozer. The Phillies couldn't score a single solitary run in their 2-0 loss against the Cardinals. Aaron Nola pitched moderately acceptable baseball but it was far from perfect, or graceful for that matter. He got through five innings by seemingly being a wise veteran. He allowed two runs in those five innings of work. He had to pitch his way out of many bad situations and could have given up way more runs. Now that I write about this, I actually respect this start from Nola. The Phils should be able to score some runs too. Nola still doesn't appear sharp but I give last night's performance a slight boost simply because of Nola's guts and savviness. Nola does fall to 0-3 on the season with a fat 5.51 ERA. Let's see if he can bounce back from this adversity.
I'm not massively concerned with these losses by the Phils quite yet. I'm expecting they respond well today in St. Louis. Cristopher Sanchez gets the start on a fair day in St. Louis, temps in basically the low 60's, mostly sunny. Phils will be facing Cardinals pitcher Miles Mikolas.
This would be a nice win to get after that crazy late game the other night and then an L yesterday. Great 'get back on track' potential I'm hoping today.
