Phillies Dominate the Royals again! Look to keep momentum vs Houston + A.D. Hammer RTTS Part 26
Well, yesterday for me personally went to absolute crap. Borderline disaster stuff honestly. My glorious day of sports pretty much went out the window but, I guess that is the beauty of baseball. Always a game the next day.
The Phils managed to brighten my day slightly though, as they dominated the Royals for the second day in a row with an 11-3 victory. Second day in a row the Phillies score 11. The Phillies outscored the Royals 22-5 Saturday and Sunday. The Phillies won 2/3 in Kansas City but this type of domination feels almost like a sweep.
After J.T.'s fantastic game on Saturday, manager Rob Thomson actually decided to sit J.T. and play backup Garrett Stubbs. It turned out to be a smart choice though, because Garrett had an awesome career day going 4/4 and flirting with a cycle. The Phillies have just been looking awesome offensively in general, accumulating 34 hits combined Saturday and Sunday.
The Phils face stiff competition to finish off August so it's good to see the Phillies showing some life. The Phils have three versus Astros followed by four against the Braves. Luckily all at home though. If they manage to play well over these seven games, perhaps the slump may be over.... We shall see!
The Astros visit the Phillies tonight in a mini rematch of the 2022 World Series. The Astros are having a mildly down year considering their dominance for the last decade. But still they are having a solid year. They are currently 70-60 and have a decent lead in the AL West. This is definitely a big series. If they can win this series after winning their series against the Royals, it would be a pretty big deal!
Wheeler is on the mound to begin this big series, he seeks his thirteenth win of 2024. Phils will be facing Ronel Blanco. Blanco is having a career year and seeks his tenth victory.
The weather looks beautiful for the Phils tonight! Can't believe we are nearing September! Season is nearing the end.
