Phillies barely escape with a win yesterday | Phils look to get the sweep today vs Marlins
Wow yesterday was an absolute rollercoaster of a game. The Phillies were breezing by in complete control of the game for the longest time. Bryson Stott and Trea Turner were particularly great but frankly the whole team was hitting fantastically throughout the game. Everyone in the lineup had a hit or an RBI and they were simply in cruise control. It was 11-4 entering the bottom of the ninth.
But then Jordan Romano happened. He came into the game and promptly got destroyed. The man gave up SIX runs in the bottom of the ninth!!! It was just an utter meltdown. Jose Alvarado had to come in to save the day and literally earn a save in what should have been just a formality. My goodness a sweet game almost became a nightmare. I was semi optimistic about Romano but honestly the guy has been really struggling to begin his Phillies career. Yikes.
Still, close doesn't count and the Phillies did get the job done at the end of the day, extending their win streak to three and giving them an opportunity to sweep their NL East counterpart Miami Marlins.
Luzardo is on the mound for the Phillies and I imagine he'll want to do well against his former team.
