Phillies avoid the series loss vs Giants yesterday | Wheeler on the mound to face Miami tonight
Phillies stabilized a bit with a nice victory yesterday to avoid losing 3/4 games vs San Fran. The Giants struck first and that was mildly nerve wracking but the boys bounced back quick, fast, and in a hurry in the first inning by putting up FIVE runs in response. Now that was great to see. That first inning damage truly decided the game because the Giants scratched and clawed but only managed to put up four runs the rest of the ball game. The Giants are an interesting team I will be curious to see how they perform the rest of the way in 2025.
Sanchez had a quality start for the Phils. He wasn't quite as excellent as his stat line suggests but he was darn close. I have no complaints. The dude looks primed to have a career year. Apparently he's put on weight in the offseason so hopefully this leads to better consistency all year long.
Tonight the Marlins come to town. The Marlins are always pesky and have begun the year playing .500 baseball. The Phillies have been a bit up and down though and so from the Marlins' perspective they can make some nice noise in the NL East if they were to succeed in this series.
BUT the Phillies also have a chance to bounce back and separate themselves as we get deeper into April. Wheeler on the mound today so let's hope that the Phils handle business.
