I mean what is there to even say? Phillies lost. Season over. Feelsbadman. Hoffman and Esteves pretty much blew it on the mound. But I'd say that the offense was the ultimate letdown of the series. The boys could not hit SQUAT. It was infuriating. Pathetic, really.

It doesn't feel like the Phillies have consistent contact hitters. Felt like nobody could really work a count deep. Super aggressive which, I sort of appreciate. Rather them be swinging away then just batting scared I guess.

Props to Ranger Suarez. He pitched with an actual sense of urgency and was tough as nails on the mound. Worked himself into consistently awful situations. Pretty sure he had bases loaded TWICE but managed to not let anyone score. Impressive and surprised me. Wish he didn't have to pitch so much and be pulled so early but, yeah. He was solid enough overall. The bullpen was just getting violated by the Mets all series long.

I'm just pretty much at a loss for words. Maybe I'm just getting too old, but it just is what it is. Only win team can win it all. It was a good season as a whole. Lots of fun moments. I am grateful for sure. Game two was still super fun. At least a playoff memory was made.

I can't put my finger on what exactly needs to change for the Phillies to get this World Series finally. We need some like, old school contact hitters man. The bullpen needs work.

Some years are just kind of circumstantial. The Mets are just scorching hot right now. The Phillies were playing below average to average. Not exactly a great combo.

The pieces are here in Philly, I think anyway. Just can't lock in as a team. Baseball is weird like that I guess.

Hopefully this Andrew Painter kid can help inject some youth and life into the rotation sooner rather than later.

I mean there is just so many things to consider. The season just ended. My brain is all over the place.

At the end of the day I am still proud of the team. There's some alarming postseason regression, this is true. World Series appearance, NLCS appearance and now just an NLDS appearance.

BUT they did win the division which is some type of progression at least.

I could rant and nitpick forever about what needs to change. The Phillies just have to be great and well, they have just been pretty good. Pretty good usually won't win a championship. I am still glad the team is good and I don't see that changing anytime soon. They'll be in the mix still.

GO PHILS
