Aaron Rodgers may be the most overrated QB of all time and probably got Robert Saleh fired.
I am not saying Aaron Rodgers is bad whatsoever but, I feel like roughly a decade ago Rodgers was all of a sudden thrust into a top five all-time QB discussion out of nowhere. This has always confused if not completely baffled me. I just don't see it. He is maybe like, top twenty or something but to be mentioned as an all time upper echelon great, seems a bit much.
Rodgers certainly is legit. Has a lot of talent absolutely. You don't get to the NFL by accident and you don't play this long by accident.
I just feel like Rodgers is a better version of Kirk Cousins. Rodgers wins a bit more and he overall is a bit more athletic than Cousins but otherwise I don't see like, an abyss of difference here.
Rodgers seems like a stat padder, which is often a criticism of Kirk Cousins. They say Rodgers didn't have massive weapons, other than in Minnesota, Kirk hasn't either. In Washington and now Atlanta, it's not really as if Kirk is throwing to Hall of Famers here.
Rodgers also has had a lot of good defenses in Green Bay and even in New York now! Tom Brady had these exact circumstances for years, great defenses with random receivers The difference? Brady has SEVEN rings and Rodgers has one.... The aduacity to include Rodgers in the same vein as Brady is truly next level brain rot.
Rodgers has a ring, just like Joe Flacco, Kurt Warner, Russell Wilson. Good QBs, but all-time greats? NOPE.
Warner and Wilson got to two Super Bowls too! Meanwhile Rodgers kind of usually chokes terribly in the playoffs other than his singular Super Bowl season.
I think people have fallen victim to pretty throws and pretty stats. Rodgers seems to have mastered playing the part and getting paid. But the man has no fire or competitiveness. Always nonchalant.
Have we ever EVER seen Rodgers behave like this on the sidelines?
Of course not. Rodgers is simply too cool for that. He just throws pretty passes and is chill, bro.
I'm sure there's been a few instances where Rodgers has been fired up, but not nearly as often as these other actual GOATS. Most of the time Rodgers just seems annoyed and disappointed.
I'm not saying a QB has to be mad. But I am saying your QB should you know, give a crap.
Our culture seems to be slowly rewarding non 'try-hards' and 'cool looking plays' over actually winning. This is more rampant in the NBA.
Many people seem to want players to look pretty AND win. But the thing is winning is not always going to be pretty. But winning is beautiful.
Now, Robert Saleh is fired as the coach of the Jets. I'm not saying Saleh was a great coach. The guy did seem confused much of the time, not going to lie. But I also doubt this is going to really change anything for the Jets.
