2021-22 NFL Conference Championship Sunday Recap
Well, after last week's historically epic round of Divisional games, today's Conference Championship games were just as epic! Both games once AGAIN decided by three points AND another overtime game! Pretty incredible.
I have heard arguments that the sevenths seeds are not needed in these playoffs, but I am starting to wonder if the seventh seed addition has been responsible for these great games, in some weird way. Perhaps having the seventh seed helps really narrow down which teams are better and as a result we get much more competitive matchups. I don't know though, I could be wrong I'm kinda just thinking as I write LOL.
But yeah I am just going to share my thoughts on these games!
Bengals defeat Chiefs in OT 27-24 in a pretty nice upset.
The Bengals just seem to have some magic in them this season, and it's pretty crazy because many of their core pieces are still young AND the Bengals have some significant cap space in the near future.
Second year quarterback Joe Burrow has been excelling in his young career so far, but it seems he has found a serious groove. The kid is just savvy. Poised and smart. Underrated physical traits. The kid is going to be a problem for a long time. Bengals fans haven't sniffed much post-season success let alone SUPER BOWL success in the entire time I've been on this earth.
As a Titans fan, I don't like it or care too much about the TEAM'S success but I am pretty happy for the fans.... for now LOL. Those fans have been waiting insanely long for something good to happen. Now they are in the Super Bowl. Pretty shocking stuff.
On the other hand, the Chiefs just seemed to run out of a little magic, a little explosiveness this past season. I mean it wasn't as if they got blown out today, but all season long it felt like this team was like, a gear too slow if that even makes sense LOL. If I'm a Chiefs fan I wouldn't be overly worried. They have plenty of good years left. But, now Josh Allen isn't Mahomes's only QB rival in the league....
Rams defeat 49ers, 20-17
This game was definitely a dog fight but the Rams FINALLY get the job done against the 49ers after losing an insane six games in a row to them.
The Rams are back in the Super Bowl just three years after they lost to the Patriots in Super Bowl LIII. They look pretty smart right now for picking up Matt Stafford in the off-season. The plan the whole time was to win NOW with Stafford and so far so good. Now is just the final step.
The 49ers on the other hand, are in a super weird position. I think they've been a little ungrateful in regard to their QB Jimmy G. I am not going to defend Jimmy G and say he's a top QB, but he is a solid enough game manager. The media seriously overreact constantly about Jimmy G and it's honestly just weird. I guess because the Niners are a big market, I have no idea.
There's a lot of speculation that Jimmy G is going to be booted from San Fran and if I'm Jimmy G I'm saying, "Send me to Pittsburgh, good luck with that kid that went to a community college or something. Isn't that where Carson Wentz went? Deuces."
I think if the Niners move on from Jimmy, they better have a clearly better replacement.
But anyway, I almost won some money on the Niners-Rams game, but it wasn't my night.
It's a Rams-Bengals Super Bowl!
Two pocket passers at QB. Two high powered offenses. This might be a Super Offensive Super Bowl.
Man, I wish the Titans were in that Super Bowl. Oh well.
These games were awesome!! Let me know what you thought of them!
