My Actifit Report Card: June 27 2023

I walked to the grocery store and back today and the flower above was in a hanging basket in front of a business.

It is a beautiful arrangement of flowers.

That is a close up of the purple and white flowers.

This is one of the most beautiful yards in Hoquiam with a couple of very old trees that are gigantic. I love old trees.

Here is the trunk of one of the trees. It might be a hemlock tree.

This little bird house must have fallen and someone propped it at the base of the tree to remind themselves to put the bird house back up high in the branches.

Look at this beautiful white bush.

Flowers were everywhere today and so beautiful to look at and take pictures of.

Two words: Simply beautiful! ALL of it! If you want to find out how old that tree is, measure 54" up from the ground, the circumference of the trunk. Let me know if it's thick like bark or not, and I can figure out approximately how old it is.

Thank you @elizabethbit but the tree is in someone's yard other wise I would measure it. The bark is very thick looking though I know that much. It might be a couple 100 years old. The others in the yard that are huge might be that old too! I'm guessing from the width look in general. 🤗💜 !BBH !CTP

You might just be surprised! I've got two (more actually, but haven't done the math on them.). One in the front yard is about 525 years old and the one directly behind the house is around 505 years old! So that first one I mentioned was just a baby seedling when Columbus discovered America! Crazy!

Thanks Barb! No, I've not been there. A couple of years ago, we went on a whirlwind tour of Mt. Rainier with our son who lives down that way. We hiked up to a big glacier, that of which I can't remember the name of now and drove pretty much around the base of the volcano. I might have to ask him about that and plan another trip! It looks wonderful!

You're welcome @elizabethbit I'm glad you got to go on a whirlwind tour of Mt. Rainier with your son. Maybe you hiked up to the glacier from Paradise. It is a short steep hike. I think you can go a little ways and be able to see it. I looked at the trail for the Grove of the Patriarch's and it says it will be closed this year so please make sure it's open before you drive all that way - But - There are so many pretty places you can see on that side of the mountain too even if the Grove of the Patriarch's is closed! Go up to Chinook Pass and you get an incredible view of Mt Rainier on the East Side! You can drive to Sunrise from there by backtracking a little. Have a great weekend! 🤗💜🤗🌻 !BBH !CTP

Thank you Barb! I know fireworks do unfortunately, tend to scare our pets. My neighbor has 2 new goats and I'm concerned for them too. One in particular would be affected I would think.

My kitties will be on high alert, but fortunately unless one particular neighbor shoots them off, most will be some distance away, but sill audible.

You're welcome @elizabethbit Yes they sure scare pets and wild animals. In Hoquiam where fireworks are illegal, so many people shoot them off anyway. My nephew's doggie will be OK. He was upset last night, and will be tonight. My nephew has some special tranquillizers from the vet for his dog. Last night the people next door where shooting them off one after another for hours and they sounded like bombs. It's ridiculous in my opinion. It is literally money going up in smoke and it hurts wild birds and animals too. I'm always glad when this holiday is over with. I'm glad you are far away from most of the noise. Thank you and hope your 4th goes well. We will celebrate this weekend with my brother and wife coming to visit us so that will be nice. 🤗💜🤗💜 !BBH !CTP

The small stuff isn't illegal here, but that doesn't stop folks from heading to the reservations to buy them and then shoot them off. With it being as dry as it is, it's also a fire hazard. I think the fire truck we saw up by us might have been because of a firework gone awry, but not entirely sure about that.

Sounds like you have a lovely weekend to look forward to. Next Tuesday is mine and Mike's 42nd wedding anniversary-where does the time go!?

Yes I know about the Safe and Sane stuff is OK. It's the bombs that everyone sets off that are so horribly loud. We are still recovering from it. I feel much better today though. My brother can't find anywhere to put his trailer so is going to wait until the fall. He wouldn't be able to park it on the street here because it's illegal and everyplace is full right now. It will be a nice quiet weekend though. You have a wonderful time and Wow Happy Anniversary! It's almost here. You take care too my friend. I hope everything went smoothly on your 4th. Yes the a an extraordinary yard this person has! There are many yards with beautiful flowers and trees on the way to and from. I am not actually in the woods. It is a suburb of Hoquiam city Near the West Coast which is very small and 100 miles from Seattle WA. Thank you, MomoGrow. When I first moved here I couldn't stand it. Now I have grown to like it much more. I don't like my living situation though. Have a great rest of the week! 😊 @momogrow !BBH !CTP

That's lovely 🌹 I must say. And the entire collections, wow, they look great. Thank God the bird house was not destroyed but kept at the base of the tree. Maybe another fellow will hang it up the branches to complete the recovery process. Great effort generally.
