Panning surfers - eng/esp

I thought at the time that I would have the opportunity to do this technique on surfers again, but life is more complex than we want. This proves once again that we have to take that photo we want the moment you have the chance and not leave it for later. These photos are the first attempt to pan surfers, and after that I have not had the optimal conditions to repeat with equal or better success in my captures. Timing is essential, wait until there is almost no natural light (there is no ND filter for a 105mm diameter Telezoom), close the diaphragm and wait for a surfer to pass you by. Geographically speaking, here the surfable depth is about 60cm deep, the waves are short -both in duration and height-, tubes are very rare, and when you fall, rocks sharp as blades awaits for you at the bottom and in the shore. As a photographer I only have 5 seconds or less to find the subject, frame it and follow it as it passes in front of me, if it passes at all. And all at f10, 1/13s. With these photos I feel very satisfied with that day, but I was left wanting and the planets have not aligned yet to have this opportunity again. Enjoy!

Yo pensé en su momento que volvería a tener la oportunidad de hacer esta técnica en un surfista, pero la vida es más compleja de lo que esperamos. Eso prueba una vez más que hay que hacer esa foto que queremos en la oportunidad que se nos presenta y no dejarla para después. Estas fotos son el primer intento de hacer un paneo en surfista, y después de eso no he tenido las condiciones óptimas para repetir con igual o mejor éxito en mis capturas. La hora es esencial, esperar a que casi no haya luz natural (no hay filtro ND para un Telezoom de 105mm de diámetro), cerrar el diafragma y esperar a que te pase un surfista por delante. Geográficamente, aquí la profundidad surfeable es poca, las olas son bajas, de corta duración, son muy raros los tubos, y al caer los muchachos les esperan rocas afiladas como cuchillas en el fondo y en la orilla. Como fotógrafo solo tengo 5 o menos segundos para encontrar el objetivo, encuadrarlo y seguirlo mientras pasa delante de mi, si es que pasa. Y todo a f10, 1/13s. Con estas fotos me siento muy satisfecho de aquél día, pero me quedé con ganas y no se han alineado los planetas para volver a tener esta oportunidad. Disfruten!
