La cima ha vuelto a cambiar de manos. Y con los dos primeros con igualdad de puntos y un tercero con apenas un punto por debajo, sabemos que cualquier cosa podría pasar en ésta Premier League. Por favor, acompáñame a conversar sobre los partidos de éste fin de semana.

ARSENAL vs. ASTON VILLA

ARSENAL venció al Brighton 0-3 en la última jornada y vuelve a recuperar el primer puesto del torneo que perdió hace tres fechas. Con los mismos 71 puntos que ha obtenido el Liverpool, los gunners enfrentan ésta fecha como locales y sin margen de error si quieren conservar su posición. A éstas alturas, a Mikel Arteta le está preocupando el estado físico de su plantilla en vista de la regularidad de los partidos, dos por semana, ultimamente. Y por lo que hemos visto, ya sabemos que hasta los jóvenes necesitan un merecido descanso para mantener un buen nivel competitivo. Arteta ha aprovechado de alabar a su compatriota que dirige al rival, reconociendo sus logros con éste club y a nivel personal. Pero hasta ahí. Sabe que debe vencerlos en el campo de juego. Algo interesante es que el Arsenal sólo ha perdido una vez en su estadio, y quiere seguir ésta racha.

ASTON VILLA logró un empate ante Brentford en la anterior fecha. 3-3 fue el marcador, haciendo que se quede en la posición 5 de la tabla, y ahora depende de lo que haga el Tottenham para volver allí. Independientemente de cómo termine la temporada para los villanos, hay que reconocer de que han mantenido un excelente nivel competitivo. Entraron al Top 5 el 30 de septiembre y aún permanecen en ese privilegiado sector en una competitiva liga. Incluso, empezaron el año desde la posición 2 de la tabla. Actualmente siguen en carrera en la Conference League, y por lo visto, la Europa League los espera, ya que aún tienen dos caminos para llegar a ella. Cabe destacar que los reds tuvieron una dura derrota frente al Atalanta en la Europa League, donde fue muy cuestionado el entrenador por la alineación titular que decidió usar. ¿Habrá priorizado el torneo local menospreciando al rival italiano? Lo cierto es que vienen heridos a éste nuevo duelo, y dentro de pocos días viajarán a Italia para definir la eliminatoria. Éstos días deben mostrar la madera con la que están hechos y su capacidad de sobreponerse, como algunas veces les toca hacer a los que terminan como campeones.

CRYSTAL PALACE fue la más reciente víctima de los ciudadanos, siendo vencidos por marcador de 2-4 en Londres. Con ésta, ya son dos derrotas seguidas y caen a la posición 14 de la tabla. Aún no pueden considerarse que están a salvo del descenso, en vista que la diferencia es de unos 5 puntos. De modo que deben seguir luchando por alcanzar unos puntos más que los mantenga a distancia. De hecho, la peor posición que han obtenido éste campeonato ha sido la 16°. Así que deben mejorar la cara. Su última victoria fue hace seis encuentros, cuando goleó al Burnley 3-0. Pero le ha tocado bailar con la más fea ésta vez, con un rival que no ha perdido en casa ésta temporada.

El histórico en Anfield entre éstos dos totaliza 16 victorias para Liverpool, 4 victorias para Crystal Palace y 3 empates. La última vez que las águilas ganaron en Merseyside fue el 23 de abril del 2017 cuando se impusieron 1-2. Ya veremos qué sucederá ésta vez.

NEWCASTLE vs. TOTTENHAM

NEWCASTLE venció al Fulham en Londres 0-1, insistiendo en volver a los buenos resultados que los haga soñar con competiciones europeas. En los últimos tres partidos no ha perdido, y sigue con la esperanza de escalar un poco más en la tabla en éste último tramo de la temporada. La novedad que tendremos éste fin de semana no se verá en el campo, de hecho, será casi imperceptible, en vista que en las tribunas habrá unas nuevas camisetas equipadas con tecnología para que algunas personas sordas puedas tener una experiencia sensorial real de los sonidos del estadio, mejorando su experiencia al visitar al estadio. ¡Vaya uso a la tecnología! Mientras tanto, el equipo deberá ocuparse para buscar un buen resultado en el campo, donde sólo han perdido ante el Liverpool, Forest y City.

TOTTENHAM se ha vuelto a encaramar en el top 4 igualando los puntos del Aston Villa pero con mejor diferencia de goles y un partido menos. Ésto los motiva a no fallar en lo que queda de temporada para asegurarse el pase a la próxima Champions League. Su victoria 3-1 ante el Forest los ha hecho volver a esa zona privilegiada que dejó el 17 de febrero. En sus últimos tres partidos tampoco ha perdido, y sus jugadores claves están respondiendo. Ha sido satisfactorio lo que ha logrado presentar Postecoglou en ésta primera gestión, haciendo que los spurs vuelvan a verse y sentirse como miembros legítimos de un top 6 en Inglaterra capaz de brindar espectáculo y competencia. Sin embargo, siendo sinceros, es posible que la Champions pueda quedarle grande si no hace fichajes importantes para la próxima campaña. La Europa League parece una camisa de su talla.

El último duelo en St James Park terminó 6-1 a favor de los locales. Pero en la fecha 16 el vencedor fue el Tottenham, 4-1 en Londres.

La experiencia es algo que puede ayudar a equilibrar el asunto, así que es de esperar que un hombres como Silva pueda ser ese catalizador, aunque no lo materializó en el resultado del último partido. Si vuelve a ser usado, debe ser un elemento que ayude a elevar la seguridad del fondo del equipo blue, y vuelvan a ganar.
