Ésta semana tendremos la última jornada entre semana de la Premier League, en una etapa sumamente importante, donde la defición de algunos lugares en la tabla de clasificación están muy reñidos. La semana pasada vimos al tercero enfrentarse con el primero. ¿Y ésta semana? ¡Tercero contra cuarto!

MANCHESTER CITY vs. ASTON VILLA

MANCHESTER CITY trató de imponer su juego en el Etihad frente a los gunners en la última fecha, y a pesar de que acumuló estadísticas buenas, tuvo que conformarse con el empate sin goles. Es su segundo empate en fila, luego del obtenido frente a su otro rival directo, Liverpool. Pero eso no es todo. En ese encuentro vio con preocupación cómo otro defensor caía al cesped lesionado. Se trata de Aké. De modo que se suma otro a la enfermería cuando se avecinan semanas de doble jornada entre Premier y Champions. Recordemos que el Manchester City irá contra el Real Madrid, de nuevo. Independientemente de lo que pase en éste partido, los ciudadanos no serán cuartos en la clasificación. Ahora le toca ésta dura batalla frente a un rival necesitado. ¿Qué tal le ha ido a los villanos como visitante? De los quince partidos jugados fuera de casa ha podido ganar siete y empatado cuatro. Un equilibrado +2 en el diferencial de goles los hace encarar el encuentro con optimismo. Unai Emery ha tenido un trabajo meritorio al mantener al equipo dentro del Top 4 incluso con las sensibles bajas por lesión que ha tenido a lo largo de la temporada. Para éste encuentro no tendrá disponible a su capitán McGinn debido a su sanción por tarjeta roja, esa tarjeta roja que pareció innecesaria en ese tramo del encuentro.

El Aston Villa ya sabe lo que es ganarle al Manchester City en ésta temporada, pero lo hizo en su estadio. Ahora que deben viajar a Manchester, retumba la estremecedora estadística de que los ciudadanos han ganado los últimos trece encuentros que han disputado en ése escenario. Si el City no gana, ¿se acaban sus posibilidades al título?

CHELSEA vs. MANCHESTER UNITED

CHELSEA sigue sin levantar cabez, y podemos seguirle agregando razones con el paso de las semanas. El último compromiso en casa fue ante el Burnley y a pesar de que el visitante tuvo que jugar el segundo tiempo completo con un hombre menos, el Chelsea no pudo imponerse con ésta ventaja. Permitió el empate en el último tramo del partido y se quedó con un punto. Su entrenador argentino dejó ver su incorformidad en la rueda de prensa dando luces de cómo podría ser el discurso dentro del vestuario en éstos días. Los blues siguen alternándose entre el puesto 10 y 11 de la tabla y parece que ese será su sitio final. Ganar la FA Cup parece el único camino para meterse en competiciones europeas. ¿Vale la pena con el nivel que está mostrando la plantilla?

MANCHESTER UNITED es otro equipo irregular también. En los últimos cuatro encuentros ha registrado una victoria, un empate y dos derrotas, amarrando sólo un tercio de los puntos disputados. Y con tristeza vio desvanecerse par de puntos en un final de partido digno de la mejor liga del mundo, cuando en el estadio del Brentford logró anotar en el minuto 96 el gol que rompería el empate sin goles por parte de Mason Mount. Y en menos de 150 segundos llegaría el gol del empate por parte de las abejas. Manchester quizás esté en compromisos continentales, si logra sobrevivir a los encuentros que se le avecinan, primero frente a éste Chelsea, luego están equipos como Liverpool, Newcastle, Arsenal y el incómodo Brighton. Por eso, éste partido en Londres es sumamente importante para las aspiraciones de éste equipo.

Los últimos tres duelos entre ambos en el Stamford Bridge han terminado en empate. Sin embargo, el antecedente más reciente es en Old Trafford, cuando McTominay resolvió con par de goles.

LIVERPOOL vs. SHEFFIELD UNITED

LIVERPOOL mira sonriente a los demás desde la cima de nuevo, gracias a la victoria que logró ante las gaviotas 2-1 y que sus rivales directos empataron entre sí. Sigue su racha positiva en procura de despedir a su entrenador con una copa de Premier League. Es destacable que los movimientos en la línea defensiva han estado haciendo lo que se espera de ellos. SHEFFIELD UNITED es el último de la tabla. En la última fecha empató frente al Fulham. Aunque estamos viendo cosas muy buenas en su juego, no le ha alcanzado para salir de esa zona. De hecho, está en el último puesto desde el 24 de septiembre, con un leve receso en noviembre. Y para colmo de males, está en proceso donde podría ser sancionado con descuentos de puntos por el manejo de sus finanzas. Actualmente eso está en apelación. La última victoria del de las espadas fue el 10 de febrero frente al Luton. Su actual racha es de dos empates, rompiendo la que traía de tres derrotas. Actualmente tiene un diferencial de goles de -50. ¿Hasta donde podría llegar éste número?

Este es el típico partido entre primero y último, y en la Premies siempre es sumamente atractivo, en vista de que el que está en el puesto 20 no tiene nada que perder ante el que ha hecho las cosas mayormente bien ese año, por eso puede asumir algunos planteamientos interesantes que complican al oponente. Y si el primero se confía, las cosas podrían salir mal. Liverpool ha ganado los últimos seis encuentro en Anfield frente a Sheffield.
